1. When a Sky box is connected is it possible to view the Sky EPG as you can the Freeview one.
2. When recording from an external Sky box is it possible to view from the internal freeview tuner.
3. Can you add time to the start and end of recordings.
4. I believe you can record from Sky with Videoplus numbers, how else can you record from a Sky external box.
Thanks for any help.

1. When a Sky box is connected is it possible to view the Sky EPG as you can the Freeview one.

YES... this should be possible.

2. When recording from an external Sky box is it possible to view from the internal freeview tuner.

I think the answer to this is NO.. as you need to select the AV2 scart etc. as the signal input, and as soon as you do this that then becomes the primary signal source not the internal tuner. You can however record from the Sky input and watch anything on the hard-drive or play a DVD at the same time

3. Can you add time to the start and end of recordings.

YES

4. I believe you can record from Sky with Videoplus numbers, how else can you record from a Sky external box.

The above will not have any effect, unless both units support Smartlink or Quicklink (same thing)

So..
By the normal method of selecting AV2 assuming the Sky box is connected to AV2 on the EH60D of course, and simply pressing record. You do have the added option of selecting the length of the recording by pressing the record again.. each press adds 30mins to record time, so in effect acts as a simple timer. IOW pressing the record button once records until hard-drive is full or until you press the stop key... further presses of record button sets a timer in increments of 30mins.

Another question...

Has anyone used the RF output as the signal source (rather than just connected as a pass through)? My main TV is connected via scart, but a second is via RF. Although I can see the picture, and I mean a recording or digital broadcast, the quality is very poor. I have tried various channels but no difference. Also checked all the connections - run the Panny RF straight to the TV etc but no big improvement. I need now to understand if this is just typical or has mine got a problem. There's no point taking it back if a replaceemnt is the same.

To see if the Panny is the problem put on a DVD and set it playing so that you know you can rely on the picture quality form source. The tune into the RF channel of the machine on your TV and remove the aerial lead that goes into your Panny. If it's picking up interference on the same channel from your aerail then this should remove it and the picture should clear up.

I have my TV and panny set so that I could watch the RF output but in my area there is so much interference on the entire spectrum that I can't get a clear picture and the places where I could are already used for a satellite reciever and video recorder. I only use this when setting timers as I can use the remote of the Panny's and video to change TV channel and so flick easily between RF outputs when putting programmes into the Panny's and video.

I only use the Rf from my DMREH60d and send the signal via a booster to all 4 TV's in the house and the TV, HDD playback and DVD playback are superb.
Perhaps you can help me with my problem, when I use the menu or EPG I lose sound and picture until I exit, also if I set the timer using the EPG and do not go into standby, it goes into standby when it starts recording. I can't believe that the machine is designed this way, is there a way of changing the settings.

Should have tried that...I have just done so and the picture is okay. When I plug the aerial back in the quality turns crap again.

I wonder if it could be too high a gain in the RF feed from the aerial? I'll need to wait until the weekend to try but can anyone describe the symptoms of having excessive gain?

Thanks for the tip, comic
