Brendan's just so distracting... and hot

I really don't have anything useful to add on the subject of salsa, except that I went to a class once and was told by the teacher that I was good. I couldn't remember how to do any of the turns or anything though! She was trying to help us learn a little routine, and I could only go backwards and forwards with muchos hip-wiggling...

I laughed so much I hope we get to see more of it during the week, and I cant wait to see the finished routine on Saturday

I thought that was really funny too, with Patsy trying not to laugh because the shouty salsa teacher was looking at her.

Shouty salsa teacher was on ITT tonight he said Anton was the hardest to control ... can't believe it myself

Do you think they'll do it in the main show or the results show? If they do it in the results show there'll be no professional dance again but there should be time in the main show because there are fewer dancers now.

I hope we get a dance from the pros, they really are fabulous! I love watching them do their thing without the celebs getting in the way!!

Have to warn you all that I am something of a long poster ...

I've been doing Salsa for about six months now, alongside Ballroom classes. There are actually a number of styles and variations of Salsa out there, of which I don't know the names, but they can differ quite a bit.

I wonder if the group dance on Saturday might involve a dance called "la rueda" - the wheel - in which all dancing couples form a circle on the dance floor and listen for instructions given by the leader to do certain moves. A class I went to used this format and, at one point, the teacher signalled to everyone to change places - with the women moving along one partner anticlockwise and changing partners! Imagine the celebrities dancing with each other ...!

Having said that, it will probably be more akin to last year's Viennese Waltz, where the partners dance with each other and occasionally show off their trademark moves in a middle for the cameras to get a good look in.

Speaking from the man's point of view, one of the main hurdles is actually learning the basic steps and gaining the confidence to lead the lady into more involved moves. I'm still learning this! I think it is easier for the ladies to learn how to follow because if you are partnered up with a good leader, then you can be guided more effectively and look good on the dancefloor.

Still, the ladies have to know the steps and confidence and knowledge is an issue. I've noticed that some ladies in my class are very expressive when they dance - they use "Styling" moves which makes them stand out from others. I interpret these moves as creative moves or gestures that add personality to their dance moves.

I think that Salsa is a very rewarding dance to learn - when Brucie is let of the reins (ie. Autocue) he can be very entertaining - see Bruce Goes Dancing. In that programme, Salsa was defined as meaning "sauce", so you might get an image of this melting pot of different ingredients. For me, Salsa borrows elements of other (possibly latin) dances, as I've noticed it uses, for example, Tango, Rumba and Cha Cha moves and mixes them altogether to give you a saucy dance!

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

You may now resume drooling over Brendan.

Hehe, that was very informative!!! Personally, the thought of even attempting it scares the living daylights out of me!!!! I'lls tick to watching thankyou very much!!

I wanna learn slow dances!! The Rumba would be my 1st choice! Or foxtrot. Nothing energetic *shakes head*

*resumes drooling over Brendan. In jeans. Tight jeans....* I'm not gonan get any work done this afternoon am I??!

The salsa was sizzling on Saturday. Everyone looked like they were having the time of their life. On the playback it was gorgeous to see how lost Darren G looked as he was waiting for his cue from Lilia to start their spot.

Estilolibre - they did do a la rueda - I loved it! What did you think of it?

Thanks for acknowledging my post, beesknees. I thought the whole dance was great. In the "rueda" part you could catch a glimpse of James dancing with Patsy, then Bill dancing with Camilla. Among others, Darren looked like he was at home, sending Lilia strolling around with a Merengue move - you could see he was revelling in the experience. Bill and Karen were having so much fun - very brave of Bill to be at the front. And Colin's snake hips were out in force again. A real team effort in which everyone seemed delighted to be involved. It was so good, even Craig had to applaud it.

Can't wait to go to Salsa class now!

I thoroughly enjoyed the celebs salsa. Will I get shot if I say that it looked more like dancing than that salsa champion? That poor girl looked like she'd either been electrocuted or had a worm put down her back. I know she's the pro and was the only one doing it properly, but I still say it didn't look like dancing. Well done all the celebs I say.

i absolutely loved the salsa! it looked so much fun!! i really wish i could have been there on saturday night, i hope they all have as much fun in the tango! tho i think it will be a different ball game cos u gotta be a bit more serious. but it was fun seeing them all let their hairs down in the salsa, especially the professionals

Can't wait for the backstage stuff from that on ITT! lol
