Random timer icons on RDR-HXD710
beatnik

I finally got my RDR-HXD710 yesterday and after having played with it for a day I have found what could be a fault with my unit (although I hope not).

If I browse through my EPG then I can see several seemingly random timer icons on various programs. The red timer icon is displayed by the program names, but "red bar" at the top of the guide isn't shown above the program. When I select the program it confirms that NO TIMER has been set, and presents the option to set a record timer.

It seems that this problem might be related to other timing events. Last night I set it to record a show on ITV4 at 23:55. When I'd done this it showed a timer icon next to a film on BBC1 that also started at 23:55. When I removed the timer from the ITV4 show, the icon next to the BBC1 show remained.

Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? I've been trying to find a way to remove these bogus timer icons but it seems impossible.

Cheers.

Just to say I noticed the same 'bogus' timer icons when setting the timer for a programme on E4+1. The timer icon would appear next to both the programme I was recording and the one an hour previous. The reason I was choosing the later showing was because of a clash with something on another channel for the earlier one. When the recordings took place they were fine and the duplicate timer icon was truly 'bogus'. Makes me wonder if the Sony can't tell the difference between the id of a programme on a +1 channel and the first showing channel.
Hopefully something Sony might fix in a future firmware upgrade.

Thanks for that gser, I appreciate knowing that you've had a similar issue.

I agree that they are truly bogus, and that the actual recording is not altered. I did manage to remove them by retuning the stations in again, but this is hardly a work around.

I suspect that it is just a software bug (I find it hard to believe that this is caused by a fault during manufacture). I might drop a mail to Sony UK to see what they have to say about it.

I mentioned this some time ago, only noticed it on E4/E4+1 though:

Not much in the way of useful replies unfortunately.
