When Osbourne attacked Louis Walsh and CS she left herself open to being sued for Slander by both parties - and the police and Race Relations act could be involved.

If I were they, I'd sue her for every penny she's got.

I've complained to ITV about her comments - and I hope other other Irish people do as well. There is no way that woman should be on Live TV: ITV is in a whole heap of trouble as well.

Firstly, it can't be said that Louis DEFINITELY kept the Conways because they are Irish, that is an assumption.
Secondly, Sharon did not say anything against Irish people in general. The insult was aimed at Louis.

Isn't that maybe a bit extreme?

"Irish Mafia"? I take that as an insult, else why use the word "Irish"?

I think the whole reaction to last week verges on the ridiculous now.

Shame people are not so passionate about real issues rather than an entertaiment programme.

Are you suggesting there's been a sense of proportion all week?!

No. What that woman said was extreme and over the top on what was supposed to be a piece of entertainment. When I sit down to watch television I don't expect to be insulted.

If you feel personally slandered by Sharon, then maybe you should get a solicitor and sue her.

oh for goodness sakes....she is only saying what most people think, which is the case with most of these types of things.

Actually he only voted Maria off because it eliminated the competition for Shayne.

No, I think the whole thing has been overblown from the start, but that was the intention of the producers.

It now seems to have become an unhealthy obsession for some.

I was born in Essex and i don't take offence at all the things that are said about Essex girls....people shouldn't take these things so seriously. It only came from Sharon Osbourne anyway...who cares what she says?

Really? People think many things but they don't get up on television and say it to millions of people.

I didn't like it either, but then what do you really expect from her?

The insult as said above, was aimed at Louis, not the Conway Sisters, or the Irish people... she said that she is part Irish herself, and as an Irish Catholic couldnt say anything against the Irish, but she did condemn Louis and his decision (or the reasons for his decision). My personal take on it is that he used his relationship with the girls to come to his decision, not necessarily his passport, but then, he has "invited" a lot of his personal friends who are Irish (probably cos he comes from there he knows a lot of Irish people in the music industry) to take part in the contest and looked out for them... To me, it still comes down to there should be the normal standard competition rule that family and friends of the judges cannot take part...

I'm pretty sure that Sharon's over-reaction was partly due to the script, the producers looking for good TV and some publicity for the show. All three judges have made bad decisions and come out with some unnecessary scathing comments over the weeks, and I dont agree with the way it has been blown so far out of proportion. But I do agree with Sharon's comment about the Conways being safe unless they are in the bottom two against Shayne or Nicholas. Louis has proved his loyalties there... isnt it a pity tho, that the Conways didnt prove their loyalty to Louis in return? Not keen on the girls' personalities, it has to be said....

Maybe you should splash out on a suit of body armour then Is it / she really worth getting this upset about?

In fairness though, why would she use the word 'mafia' if she only meant one person? And the fact that she claims to be 'an Irish Catholic' is neither here nor there.

You didn't like it but you're prepared to sit there and take it: Show some gumption, stand up for yourself, complain to ITV - all it takes is a phone call to the Duty desk.

I "expect" presenters to behave in a decent manner.

Take what? It wasn't aimed at you or at Irish people in general. It was aimed at LOUIS and that was very clear
It's just an entertainment program...calm down.

Yep, I'm prepared to sit there and take it because I don't often watch anything on TV3. They lost any revenue money coming from my viewership many years ago. I don't really see it as a matter of standing up for myself, incidentally. If the likes of Sharon Osbourne's spiteful outburst could upset me, I'd be in an awful state every time the Daily Mail finishes a print run.

OK, but the Italian Mafia does not take in the whole country, I think she was referring the Louis as the "Godfather" who looks out for his selected few, not saying the whole of Ireland is involved...

Perhaps that might be what she thought she meant, but it did provoke plenty of IRA comments here, and I don't think this would be the only place.

"Mafia" means more than one person: who is in this "Irish Mafia" beside Louis? It must be that CS are part of this conspiracy.

Wow, your awfully sensitive, over a nothing comment from a nothing celebrity, on a trashy talent show.

You must go through life being constantly outraged.

Excellent use of the word "gumption" though. Good work.
