MICOM software explained
HumaxSupport
16-11-2005
To all PVR-9200T (DuoVisio) users,

Please see below some information to clear up any questions you have with the MICOM software.
Currently units are shipped stating that they have either MICOM 2.02 or MICOM 2.03.
However due to a display problem in the menu some units may state 2.02 but actually have 2.03.

The MICOM problem is simple to explain, if you have a fault with the MICOM version your receiver will not boot up, so you cannot use it at all. Not all units with MICOM 2.02 will have this problem only a small percentage.

The best way to check your MICOM version is as follows:

Power off the unit from the rear
Power on again and look for the following on the display
You will see 4 digits flashing round:

MICOM 2.02 = //\\ - 2 go to the right and 2 go to the left

MICOM 2.03 = ///\ - 3 go to the right and 1 goes to the left

It is not essential to have the MICOM software upgraded, unless your PVR is not booting up, if you experience this problem then the unit would need to be returned to us to be upgraded (it cannot be down via the RS232 port) as it needs to be upgrade via the Mainboard.

Thanks

It is good to see that Humax Support is now contributing directly to this forum. I hope that this continues. To date, I have been very impressed with Humax Support and the 9200T.

I am now not not quite sure why I, and at least one other forum member, was asked by Humax Support to return the box for a firmware upgrade. The fact that the information on the menu might be incorrect was not mentioned. Perhaps the decision was based upon the serial number.

However I will take that up directly with Support as it is a point that only affects me rather than being of general interest.

Many thanks for the information.

My 9200T boots up within 20 seconds and has so far proved very reliable (other than the known common bugs).

Great machine with great support.

I challange anyone to see which way the flashing digits are bending, they are only their the second you switch the power on at the back and they only apear for a split second and they are moving. Maybe if you have a camcorder or something you could record it and pause it.

Most Digital Cameras have a video mode that acts like a camcorder.

I can see them quite easily on my box. There are four symbols; the two on the left rotate clockwise and the two on the right rotate anticlockwise, which as I understand it confirms my MICOM version as 2.02, which agrees with what the hidden menu shows.

I think it would be fairly obvious to see the difference between my case and that of 2.03 i.e. the three symbols on the left rotating clockwise with the remaining symbol on the right rotating anticlockwise.

Basically, if the pattern looks symmetrical, you're MICOM version is 2.02, and if it looks asymmetrical, it's 2.03.

I agree that it's good to see Humax support posting directly to the forum. Hopefully we can look forward to some good input from them

Seems a fair mis-understanding. I too read it as meaning I would see stationary oblique strokes sloping either to the right or to the left.

Sure, or look on the root page, like everybody else!

As long as the 'root page' was referenced, I would agree.

In three or four months time; searching from a 'google' would be a chore.

What is this "root page" of which you speak?

(Sorry, I'm not up-to-date with the jargon.)

Hi mfmf,
lists all the threads in each section so you can see what discussions you want to join like

Scroll to the top of a page such as the one you are on.
You will see the thread address. This is a sort of tree. Before the particular thread name you will see 'Humax', the next step up the tree.
Click on that and you will see the list of Humax threads....including 'Hidden Menu'.

Thanks, I'd worked out how to see the "root page". I just wasn't aware that's what it was called.

I can see that the "Hiden Menu" thread is pretty obvious for now. But it won't be once people stop posting on it, and it's dropped down the list. More to the point, with so many posts and threads it's often very hard to find a post that you vaguely remember seeing a few days ago. Does anyone have any good tips on searching the forum? Is there an FAQ for this?

There is not an FAQ for searching the forum on the Humax thread/s. It is a matter for the Digital Spy people.

Other than looking down the list for appropriate threads, you could also use a tool to search.

In both the route page or an individual thread there is a search dropdown box. It seems this search tool is always found toward the top right of the screen just under the page numbers hyperlinks. Or if a thread is still only on one page, like this currently, its just on top of the first post on the right.

There are some hints and tips from DS on how to make better seraches using symbols that make searches more powerful, like the use of speach marks or using the + or minus etc

I know the majority of regular users were in favour of the move to separate sub-forums for the individual makes of DVR's (PVR's) with multiple threads in the sub-forums. But I certainly found the "old way" better with just one main thread per PVR model number.

To get the full picture you need to read ALL the Humax threads as the thread titles often don't describe the full content of threads.
