Dunno what other people think, but I cannot abide this man's acting anymore... Why they decided to axe Sunita, and yet keep this shouting, over the top, awful character in is beyond me. Is it just me, or do other people despise him being on screen?!

its all been said before. I think he's a good actor, the way he says his lines is funny, don't think he's that bad!

I've always found him annoying, but it's just recently with him being plunged into the spotlight again i actually want to turn over when he's on screen... compared to Shobna and her character, I just can't understand why it's not him going.

I just started a thread at the same tine as you. I agree he should be axed.

I cannot take him or his stories seriously when he is on screen. Shobna Gulati carries him whenever they are together. This story is actually meant to be quite heart-wrenching if you follow Sunita's point of view... but him being on screen actually distracts from what's going on.

I agree, he is a terrible actor. We are losing a fantastic actress when Shobna Gulati leaves and we are left with a crap actor like Jimmi.

He is a terrible actor but I find him really funny, even though he's not supposed to be.

He may be a horrible b@stard and less than easy on the eye, with a pathetic habit to crescendo as his sentences progress, but I don't think he is too bad an actor.

"Whooooo Tooooooold Yooooooou" - The most hilarious thing I've ever heard, it was like he was going for a Christina Aguilera-like chorus.

Let me put it this way - if you had landed a good salary etc for being so awful - would you leave? Not on your life - he's here for as long as they will have him. Who's to blame him? He has all these girlfriends in real life as I understand it, and they must take some effort to support - oh sorry perhaps he doesn't - who am I to judge Perhaps for him if they only had girls they don't matter (pardon me if I sound bitter - my ex from whom I have been divorced since 1986 said something very similar to me just this year ... "I never thought woman were very important till I thought of someone treating my daughter like that ..." - poor sad chappie .... LOL)

I went to a club in Manchester once (poptastic), and he was there in a white suit with gold buttons, white shoes, white shirt, white tie... looked a mess but had a harem of women behind him hanging off his every word. Little did he realise that the club was a gay indie club that had a reputation for getting rather hot and wet (spilled drinks) inside with it being underground. He emerged looking like he'd been doused in multicoloured pig swill, which always amuses me when I see him on screen now.

I think Jimmi as Dev is so bad he is in danger of becoming good. He is terrible, yet hilarious. I used to cringe when he went into one of his crescendos, now I just find it very entertaining.

I agree Shobna completely carries their scenes - and I think Amber will continue this tradition when Sunita leaves, Amber so far has been great.

i completely agree with you - i absolutely cant stand him and he just shouts all the time! i actually said in another thread that i thought it should have been him going and sunita staying, so im glad to find someone that agrees with me.

i thought he was sometimes quite funny on monday actually! i agree that when he goes into one of his crescendos its actually quite entertaining still i hate him and cant understand how he got all these women pregnant - the thought of getting into bed with dev - eughh!!!! i like amber too

I totally agree with you Andyscouser. Jimmi Harkishin is an awful actor. And Coronation Street have done the totally wrong thing of sacking Shobna (Sunita) instead of Jimmi Harkishin.

I thought Shobna is fantastic in all her scenes, but they are ruined when Jimmi appears onscreen! He shouts, is very OTT and so damn hard to kill!! You would think Mad Maya would put him and US out of our misery but killing him!

Why they're axing Sunita is beyond me! I never liked Dev since he bonked Deirdre - there's some things we just never should be subjected to...

Well I normally agree with your posts Andyscouser but on this occasion I'm afraid I can't. I really like Dev. I find his weird delivery amusing and I love that "oldest swinger in town" look that he has. I suppose I just find him funny. I do agree with you though that it's a shame Sunita's going.

As for this current storyline with all his kids crawling out of the woodwork - I wasn't keen when I heard about it but I'm really enjoying the Dev/Amber scenes
