I think it needs to be put to bed now.

Thinking back to 3 years ago when it was riding high, and comparing it to now...

It is trailing behind all the other soaps,

Who would have thought the following would be on our screens a few years ago

Deeeeev Aaallaaaahahnnn being exposed as a serial sh*gger who supposedly has all these secret kids - who he didn't care about when Maya was burning things down? SLOPPINESS

 Some nobody playing with some pigs

A panto wedding that looked like something out of Comic Relief

I would be interested to hear what the Corrie fans have to say... maybe they should admit defeat when it's staring them in the face...

EastEnders has risen and now Coronation Street has fallen... and is falling fast...

RIP Corrie 1960 - 2005

I think most intelligent people on here will refuse to get drawn into this discussion... considering the Announcements at the top of the forum. Pathetic thread.

What are you talking about

Am I not allowed to state my view? My view is that Coronation Street should be axed. I also highlighted some valid points about the (IMO) dreadful plotlines..

Surely any arguments are down to the people who make them...

it's a Discussion Forum, where you discuss things.

Corrie might be going through a bit of a lull at the moment, but there is no way it should be axed. Maybe a shake up at the producer level will provide some fresh blood, get rid of some dead wood, and create some new storylines that aren't panto comedy based. Not all the storylines at the moment are to my liking, but there is enough to still maintain my interest.. so in MY opinion, Corrie should not be axed.

Many people have disscused this - it is slipping, but every soap has that EastEnders last year and Emmerdale in the 90's. Corrie shouldn't be axed however.. I understand your view though.

Corrie is bad at the moment but that is only because the actors they are using for main storylines are terrible.

A lull? Each to their own  I do not disrespect your view, Andy, so please do not bite my head off like before.

I agree they need to act quickly... you can't spend a long time trying to save a sinking ship, or it will sink

I think Coronation Street is nearly below the ocean surface

This is a stupid thread

Corrie is still at the top of the ratings- why should it be axed?

...and I don't disrespect yours, but the last few weeks on here have been thread after thread of people causing trouble and i just know this one will descend into the same thing... apologies for any offence! Surely any talk of how Corrie can improve is a good thing for those people who like watching it... it's not unfixable... not long enough has passed where it becomes unfixable.. but the producers do need to act quickly... In Emmerdale, even when things are in a lull it's still pretty unmissable, purely because of the writing quality... which has fallen drastically over the past year in Corrie.

Basically what you're saying is that I am drawing you into an argument. Well surely if you replied maturely there would be no argument

It takes two to tango, I'm afraid.

BACK ON TOPIC. Does anyone know if Dev is being axed? I can't cope with that man on my screen any more

Dont get me wrong I love Corrie. But the reason i think he is saying this is becuase it is not as good as what it was. People are still watching it because it has the potental to be a good soap. Next year it will be great. But Corrie is good.

Coronation Street is a work of art!
Part of the Heritage of Great Britain.
I make no secret of the fact that I believe EastEnders has run its course and should go!!! RIP EastEnders 1985-2006!
Its easy to type these funeral type messages isnt it!
There is nothing wrong with Coronation Street and its usually hasty lines written so that a character can exit that temporarily make the story of poor quality...
Dev was a tired under-used character and should just have been permanantly delayed on a flight back from India where he went to attent to a sick great great aunt whom he vowed to care for until death an aunt that no one had ever heard of. Yes his storylines are poor but so what?
There is wit, humour, and controversy in Coronation Street and they tackle sensitive issues very well.

Not saying it should be axed, but you'd expect a public outcry and Commons questions heavier than Tony Blair faced over Iraq and the detaining of terror suspects.

I don't think I'm over playing it here !

I don't think yours does..   LOOK, how difficult is this to understand; In my opinion, Coronation Street is dreadful at the moment.

Now instead of moaning about the thread and vowing to ignore it, why don't you state your reasons for disagreeing? Or would that require too much brain power?

Next year? What is happening?

Compared to the glory days of 2003 it is nothing now.

The problem I had with your initial post is that you didn't merely compare Corrie now to Corrie then... you brought Eastenders and Emmerdale into the discussion. Even when Eastenders was at it's worst, a lot of people on here (myself included) only ever compared Eastenders to Eastenders, and didn't use the other soaps to prove a point.

Was that intended to be funny I missed the joke, as usual. Why am I so slow

Anyway, as I've already SAID, I don't want an argument, I just want to discuss Coronation Street and it's "lull" as one person said...

Why are you getting so upset?? Does the truth hurt?

Well Emmerdale's Steve Frost takes over.. If i am correct. He brought Emmerdale up higher and higher.. But Corrie have axed Shobna (Sunita) which isnt good.
