Yes i read this a week ago in some freinds magazine and yes acording to 9 research done on this years bb around 13-14 million viewers will tune in to final thats doubled the amount of the pop idol final and this is why=

They way people watch and listen to bb is split into 5 sections

(1) the Channel 4 highlights this is the main one for all bb fans and espcailly those who never watched it before and this is a shock according to reaserch more over 60's watch bb( Wierd). This is also watched by those people who don't have digital and no internet.

(2) E4 live coverage is according to the research are for those who are die hard bb fans and some of the people only watch the live feeds from the house and never the highlights( but they do watch the ch4 highlights). This is also attracts more of the 16-34 year old and more of them watch bblb.

(3) The live internet feeds these are for those who surf the internet or those who use the internet on a regular bases i.e. buisness etc. Some of the people who watch the regular feeds also just watch the feeds and never the channel 4 highlights ( but they do watch the evictions on ch4 etc).

(4) Live updates on the internet and mobile. These are for those people who work long hours and dont have much time to watch tv or subscribe to live feeds but depend one live updates. But these people do try and watch the ch4 evictions.

(5) the live audio thourgh your mobile or telephone. Their are around a massive 10,000 people who call these premium telephone lines everyday and listen to the housemates up to 20 hours a day.

So when the final does come it will be exlusive to ch4 with behind the sence (live to the house) on e4 and internet.

So this years bb gets an average of 5-6-7 million viewers who watch bb beating last years 4-5 milion viewers. So yes i do believe that this years final wil get the highest amount of viewers but do you?

Jesus, those on number 5 must spend hundreds a week on Big Brother. Cocaine abuse would less costly. For all its blanket media coverage, BB (an "event" show) still doesn't get the audience share of dross like Eastenders. Just thought I'd mention it.

Why on earth would people ring up to listen to them? Are they all using someone else's phone?

LK - goes to check that somone hasn't sneaked in off the street and listening to BB on her phone right now !!!

At 60p a minute to hear someone say PJ has gone back to bed

It seems somewhat extravagant..

Big Brother wont do more than 10 million max it is only watched by around 10% of the UK pop. but it is polarised to 16 to 34 year olds around 20-30% of that pop.

Um the Pop Idol finals got 13 million viewers

I would think that the BB finals will be arround the 11 million viewers mark. Both of the previous series have been just over 10 million viewers at the finals.

Last years final got 8.1 million and the year before NEARLY GOT 10 MILLION but because this years ch4 highlights gets more then 5 million viewers the media reporters are pridicting over 13 million viewers.

also the magazine also pointed out that this bb has atracted more older viewers then the past bb. Also they are expecting a huge phone that could eqaul the pop idol vote in the final and this ones a strange one THE NATIONAL GRID IS EXPECTING A HUGE ELCTRIC INCREASE because acording to the guardian and the magazine i was reading adele's eviction caused a slit high in the number of kateles being swicthed on.

STRANGE

The Pop Idol Final may have got 13/14 million viewers, but it also had an average audience of around 10 million for the shows leading up to the final.

Adele's eviction night got such big numbers because everyone knew it would be either her or Jade walking. Both girls had been portrayed as "villains", both in the media and by C4 editing policy. People tuned in to see them get kicked out.

Last year's final was a bit of a non event because it was so obvious who was going to win. This year it's a 3 horse race and I think that C4 will be pushing for a Kate victory. I don't expect the Final to get as many as 13 million viewers, but I'm pretty sure it'll be higher numbers than last year.

so basically lots and lots of people might or might not watch the final big brother!

but what does this all mean?

is it just another big brother conspiracy? or does it just not really matter that much. in fact. really.
