UPSTAIRS Downstairs star Jenny Tomasin is joining Emmerdale.

Jenny, famous for her role as downtrodden maid Ruby in the hit 70s show, is said to be delighted .

She will play Noreen Bell who returns to the area after years away.

Her character, on screen next month, quickly pals up with barmaid ( ) Val Lambert (Charlie Hardwick). A show source said: "Noreen will come in as a former resident who has not been seen before.

"Viewers can expect to see lots of her well into the New Year."

Yet another new character Well pairing up wth Val can only be a good thing . Someone actually said she meets Val when doing community service together, but the article doesn't sound like that.

I loved her as Ruby in Upstairs, Downstairs. Mrs Bridges never gave her a minute...

Anyone who teams up with Val is good enough for me.

Yay! She's finally got a job after Upstairs Downstairs! On a 'after Upstairs Downstairs' programme on last year she said she'd only had about 2 jobs since the programme ended 20 odd years ago and was finding things difficult.

I suppose it was almost inevitable that if she was ever gonna work again it would be in a soap!
I'm glad she's had a bit of luck.

IMDB has her down as being in a few things, not much though - but one of them is in Emmerdale in 1981/82 playing Naomi someone, lol.
