Claudia, you obviously read forums, as you often mention them. Please can you answer one question:

WHY DO COLIN AND ERIN NEVER GET ANY COVERAGE ON ITT?
All the others are interviewed in the studio at least once a week yet we never see Colin and Erin. Can you tell us if this is their choice or ITT powers that be? Thankyou.

More coverage of Colin please ITT

Not never...Colin was on last Friday and Erin was on during the week last week..I believe? I could be wrong....Erin said they didn't appear together as Colin is very busy with his work at the moment.

[Sarcasm]True, we can't really complain when we get the occasional, blink-and-you'll-miss-it glimpse of Colin such as yesterday's, during the end credits.[/sarcasm]

I don't believe work stops Colin appearing on ITT. He would have known about the programme when he signed up to SCD. He wasn't even reviewed by Craig R-H last night. All rather odd when he is such a good dancer and comes across as totally pleasant and willing to learn. I do hope it has nothing to do with his colour.

Could the lack of coverage be down to the fact there's not scandal/tension in Colin & Erin's training?

Of course its nothing like that. Can't believe with the society we live in nowadays we even notice it.

Far more likely he is working in Cardiff or something. Try getting from there to London on time! He is a sportsman. Hes not into all this PR lark. Whilst he would go, I am sure if he could from a committment angle, I doubt he will want to win off the back of celebrity; he'll want to do it because he is the best.

I think this amply demonstrates the lack of coverage Colin is getting.

CJ has retired from competitive athletics and is building a career as a commentator and presenter. As he doesn't give the impression of being totally stupid, I presume he is well aware that celebrity and visibility are crucial if he is to succeed.

He did say and Erin did say he was busy...I like Colin..I like all of them, but I don't think there is anything sinister behind him not being on, and he got an interview all by himself only a week ago, which is all anyone else has had in the last week?

The main gripe peeps seem to have, is him not being shown last night in Craigs clips, but he was shown last week wasn't he and someone else was missed out, as I distinctly remember all the comments of his snake hips in his samba rehearsals.

But I am just guessing. Not trying to be controversial, I just think it is as simple as that. Also last week he had the whole foot think himself and did get quite a bit of coverage with that too. We all forget from week to week don't we. I mean no Zorro this week! I like him too.

Of COURSE it's nothing to do with his colour!! Remember how far Denise Lewis got last year - to the FINAL!!! I think one reason is because there are so many other male celebs to focus on. Secondly, it could well be that Colin himself doesn't want to be on ITT, because there simply isn't any chemistry between Erin and himself, so he feels there's nothing much to talk about...? I feel he wants to keep a low profile because he doesn't want any prying into his life. What's his status? Is he married? Gay? What??

Not that I will hear a bad word against Colin but surely when he signed up for the programme he realised he would need to promote himself and not just perform on a saturday.
Also if he is working in Cardiff or wherever do the BBC not have studios everywhere so could do a link up with him.Or couldn't the cameras follow him for a day or something like Dennis, Zoe at Brighton, James Darren going home, to name a few.
I don't think there was as much coverage of colins foot as all the other injuries/ arguments etc.. Its always just skimmed over.
He does need to get out there and sell himself a bit more but I think it is ridiculous to say it is about colour.

I understand that Colin is busy and all that but it has to be said I would like to see more of him and Erin on ITT. It doesn't really seem fair that he gets so little coverage, especially in things like Craig reviewing the dancing and stuff, when they don't actually have to be present. From the little clips I've seen of their training at the end of the programme it actually looks really entertaining, plus when he hurt his foot last week next to nothing was mentioned, yet people won't shut up about Bill. Ok I didn't actually mean to rant so I'll be quiet now

I reckon that in the scheme of things, Colin might rather use any spare time for dance practice with Erin rather than ITT. Perhaps he figures that if he gets to the later stages, he'll make more time for it. I know some have said he shoud be more media savvy, but remember he is originally from a world where his performance and scores speak the most volumes for him and might feel training is a priority. He might also feel he'd rather spend some spare time with his family or perhaps he trains young athletes or is involved in other programmes.

I know the other couples are busy, I'm not making excuses, it's just that it's such a multifactorial thing that it could never be a case of 'the BBC are skewing their coverage intentionally'. Things are almost never that black and white. Zoe is more media oriented, Will was working for the BBC in Casualty and Bill works in the same building for example.

Perhaps ITT have been trying to get him but when it comes down to it, it's just easier to get others as they are more available; or they are more certain that he'll be in the final stages and so are confident of securing more airtime later on (this doesn't explain Zoe and Ian), but still we have no way of knowing why. In fairness, he has appeared a few times and they have had Erin on a fair bit focusing upon her partnership.

I'm sure any Beeb researchers reading this forum will have already noticed that a lot of us are keen to see more of him, so at least that purpose has been served eh?

I have another theory! Colin is streets ahead of everyone else when it comes to natural ability. I think the Beeb are worried he's going to leave everyone else standing. Keep him out of the limelight and it gives the others a chance!

This gets stranger. On ITT tonight, (WAY TO GO Anton for the white suit ) Colin said that he'd not rehearsed much with Erin this week because she'd been ill with flu, and yet she's been on ITT more than him this week!

I noticed that too. It is out of order. They even fitted Darren in although didn't show him training. No doubt someone will come on and say 'oh but he was on the show and Claudia did speak to him, and Colin did say Erin hadn't been well'.
But that is still no excuse for just omitting him.

Plus Colin is a perfectionist...he always has been (having watched him his whole career) I just wonder if maybe, just maybe, he doesn't want stuff shown where he is learning and making mistakes and would prefer people to wait and see him on a Saturday night as he is?

Lets face it..he is quite a private man as even I who have been watching him for a long time, do not know much about him (except his sister is an actress) and maybe that is the way he wants it.

Maybe we should all be not blaming ITT but thinking it might actually be his choice?

I cannot believe that ITT would leave him out on purpose for any reason....I think it may all be down to his wishes. They have never left anyone out before.

And he was on tonight...I know...that still isn't enough for alot of peeps...but he was.

I like Colin..I do..he probably is the celeb best dancer imo.

I just don't think people should be thinking it is all a conspiracy too much...there can be other factors.

Maybe he is taking a lead from Denise last year..as lets face it..one or two things she said in training about others, may have , imo, cost her the title. maybe he is wary due to her..I am sure she has spoken to him?

And if he doesn't want to be on as much due to any reasons mentioned, would it really help him if ITT did announce why? It may cost him votes.

It is probably better for him to not be mentioned if that IS what he wants.

You're quite right, I think. Colin IS being undermined. Mind you, his partner has joined the long line of fake flu sufferers - if she had flu she'd hardly be up to dancing all week. Who does she think she is, Judy Flu-again Finnigan? It's a COMMON COLD, luv! Don't get all la-di-da about ordinary hooter infections! Oooooh, that make me so mad!
