9200 Questions

18-11-2005
Is anyone aware of aware of a way getting the recorded programme to start say a minute or two earlier. Pingu is only on for 5 minutes but starts the recording halfway through (for my boy not me!!). If I start the recording a minute earlier it tags it with the name of the earlier programme.

Also is there a simple way to make a copy of DVD's to 9200 via a PC??

Thanks in advance

No.

If you read the 'Using with a PC thread you will see it takes a boffin to get a Humax recording on to a DVD playable on a DVD Player.

Just copying a video recording to the HUMAX is not in the spec, and a trial in itself. If you still want to do it read the 'Using with a PC' thread.

Record the program in front as well on a single timer so that they form one recording.
Then see Q0050 on the FAQ thread to see how to jump quickly to the part you want.

It is easy to lose a minute or two at the start or the end of a program if the broadcaster starts the program early, which is what you are describing here, or allows it to run over, when you will lose the end of the program.

The 9200T will always record the exact scheduled time of the program, if you reserve a program for recording from the program guide.

To overcome your problem, when you are in the program guide press the yellow button. You can then select the Pingu program that you have reserved to record, and edit the start and/or finish times to add on a few minutes.

You will get the name of the previous program, if you edit a program to start early, which does not matter too much if you are going to watch it soon and then delete it. If you want to keep it for a while you can change the name to anything you like by using the editing featutes in the recorded programs menu.

Be aware that if you start recording early using the instant record button, the recording will stop at the scheduled end time of the previous program, unless you adjust the recording end time (see bottom of Page GB 28 in the manual for how to do that). This seems to fool a lot of new PVR owners, as they think that it will operate like a VCR and keep going till they stop it.

I don't at the moment connect to my PC, so I will leave that question for someone else to answer.

Thanks for the advice on this all, I will have a go at transfering files but at the moment the software just errors when trying to copy to the PC.

As for the recording starting late I can do the above and then use the PC to rename the file.
