Slight 'knocking' sound in Playback/Record
Dave6000

When playing back a programme and recording another simultaneously, I've noticed a slight low level 'knocking' or 'tapping' sound coming from my new Toppy.
Is this a normal function or could there be something wrong?
Thanks.

Its normal, but it can be made quiter if you have a spinpoint drive inside your toppy, to check look through the vents in the top of the toppy and you should be able to see the word spinpoint.
then download and transfer the HDD info tap to your toppy ( using altair and a USB lead)
on your toppy go to the archive and then to the Taps menu ( usihng the >> button to move between the archives).
Select the HDD info Tap and press OK, you will then see a screen with some basic info using the controls listed below change the AAM mode to silent.
the spinpoint drives can be set to silient/quit/normal/loud using acoustic management (aam)

As for the Tap download it from http://www.topfield.cc/index-e.html scroll down on the left hand menu to HHD tools/recording.
You only need to run this Tap once.
for more on Taps and the toppy go to http://www.toppy.org.uk
