Coronation Street 7 times why?
i, I'm back! I was banned for two days
Best be on my best behaviour -- Firstly, What follows is my opinion. That is, it is my view and not necessarily shared by anyone. no arguments here, kthx.Coronation Street is going out 7 times this week, all because ITV are worried about I'm a Nobody, Revive my Career This is desperation from ITV, yet again The biggest irony is that - surprisingly, I know - I'm a Nobody is already popular enough to fight its own battles... :yawn:I think this move is a bad idea, it will alienate viewers who are already tired of Borethenation Street in it's current state of 5 times a week

Yes well ITV think that the Fans will be thrilled by showing 7 helpings of the nation favriote soap....
PASS THE SICK BUCKET Joking, ITV obliviously didn't realise at the time (a couple of months ago ) tht the storylines that corrie has wouldn't be strong enough to hold up 7 times fort he week. |

If the viewers don't like the 'borethenation street' as you call it (I personally like it
) Then they don't have to watch it. Also if you don't like 'I'm a Nobody....' ( I think that is ok ) then you don't have to watch that either......In fact you could just pretend ITV1 does not exist till this week is over.....

"Streetcars" --> Fan, Coronation Street --> Subject of this topic --> Fear So you are a Corrie fan and you KNOW what I've said about the extra episodes being pointless is true. But you can't bear to hear a bad word said about Coronation Street. If you don't like my topics, stay out of them. I already said this is my opinion, and may be disagreed with. So what's your problem? |

I'm a Coronation Street fan and an EastEnders fan so I usually don't get into arguments on here unless I feel a particular soap really needs to be defended.
I think the number of episodes this week are ridiculous, 5 is bad enough but 7 is just completely overload. It's not Coronation Street's fault though, and the show itself usually gets a lot of stick because of the number of episodes. It's ITV who are ordering all these episodes. The cast and crew and producers just have to do what they are told, whether they like it or not, and the probably don't. It's a huge strain on everybody when they have to get these episodes out and therefore the quality will probably slip this week. I wish ITV would see sense and just see that I'm A Celebrity performed best when it wasn't surrounded by loads of episodes of Coronation Street, last year when they did the same, the ratings actually slipped for the previous series. It may not have been because of the number of episodes of Corrie, but it could be considered a factor. |

They should strike...

I think that all the main soaps should all be cut to 2 or 3 episodes a week unless there is a big storyline in one of them After all not everyone likes soaps

Whats the biggie if Corrie goes 7 days for one week ? "Oh no call the soap police"
Its just a TV show. I don't personally mind one offs, as long as it doesnt happen every week then whats the harm. |

2 episodes on Mondays is a bit much too. Can't they just show the five episodes in the 5 weekdays? But why the big fuss over Corrie's 7 episodes? 6 episodes of Emmerdale EVERY week - it takes a whole day to watch the omnibus!

It is however their biggest show so unfortunately they will occasionally use it to 'prop up' other shows. |

But.. I agree with your comment about ITV not being willing to take risks and bring us innovative programming in the same way they used to. i.e. I could never see them bringing us something like the Kenny Everett show these days, which we were discussing on the tv forum recently. This was a perfect example of a programme which started off on ITV and was fantastic - I always thought that, enjoyable as it was, it was never quite as bold when it moved to the BBC. There are plenty more examples of bold and innovative programmes that ITV wouldn't dream of bringing us now, and I could be here for ages listing them, but Kenny's show came to mind as I'd been discussing it on another thread recently. However, I don't think ITV are alone in 'playing safe' and making 'lowest-common-denominator tv' these days - I also think the other channels do their fair share of it at times. |

i think its great that they are having 7 episodes this week even if there isnt any particualar big storyline coz, as you can probably tell from my username, i love corrie! i also like im a celeb so for me, this weeks going to be good as i can watch about 5 hours of tv in a row (corrie, ee, corrie, im a celeb, corrie) also its only a one off so does it really make that much difference if for one week itv decide to show two extra episodes?

I hate it when they air extra eps at 10pm. I will probably forget those eps are on, 10pm is just the wrong time for a soap. I love Corrie but three eps in a night (as on Monday) is too much even for me. I feel sorry for Corrie having to fall in with IAC in this way but there is nothing they can do about it

Its a ridiculous having 7 episodes in one week and THREE EPISODES IN ONE NIGHT .
I agree that ITV should come up with new ideas and take risks. Ive been watching my Corrie 1980s DVD and I cant believe how good Corrie was back then compaired to these past 3 months. |
