Blackouts, timeouts and clicks!

Hi

First off just to say that overall I am very happy with my 9200 and am really pleased I have finally joined the PVR revolution. However there are a couple of things that are occuring on my 9200 that I would be grateful if other users could either confirm or comment on:

Blackouts

This I notice when I am watching a 3rd channel while recording 2 others whose recordings start at the same time. Instead of the normal mesage that pops up to say that a recording has started the TV display blacks out for a couple of seconds. Not a major problem but an annoying onenone the less. I presume this is potentially because the 9200 is trying to display 2 "started recording" messages at the same time and gets confused?

Timeouts

I have noticed that the timing of some recordings is slightly out. Therefore a program scheduled to last for 50 mins can only record for 49 mins or sometimes a 30 min program with only record for 28min. I know I could do some manual padding but if the 9200 timings were slightly more accurate I wouldn't have to bother with this in the vast majority of cases. Good examples are "Rome" on BBC2 which it only ever records for 49min and unless you manually pad the time you are guaranteed to miss the last couple of minutes. For "Creature comforts" I can also guarantee that it will always miss the first minute or so of the recording

Clicks

Normally recordings are quite and you can't hear the hard drive in action. However on some occasions when it is recording you get a gentle background intermittent clicking of (I assume) the hard drive. I haven't been able to pin down exactly the circumstances when this occurs, but it seems more likely when I am watching one channel and recording 2 others.

I would be grateful if you could confirm (or not) these findings so I can report to Humax whether these are issues with just my machine or if they are common problems.

Thanks

The clicks are probably the disk head jumping between the three locations at which recordings/playbacks are being made. The frequency of the clicks is thus three times that when only one is being made. Your hearing may be above average.

The situation is not likely to be improved quickly. A workaround would be to physically sound proof the box a bit. Someone said to place the box on cardboard or corrugated board. You could line the cabinet it is in with felt.

Please report back how you get on if you take this approach.
