I am not even going to watch BBLB in case I catch a glimpse of PJ on it.

LK - can be very persistant about some things .. sorry if I have bored everyone to death listening to me about PJ BUT He IS horrible ..... awful .. dire ...... ooops ...... you know already what I think of him !!!!

Nothing will convince me otherwise.

Look out ladies .... PJ is about to be ejected into the world. Steer clear!

To quickly cover your accusation of previous racist viewpoints, I don't see why his opinion that illegal immigrants should be deported is racist. I am strongly of the opinion that illegal immigrants should be kicked out of the country, and not given any support by the government.

If however he was talking about immigrants (as in legal ones, who have gone to the trouble to get the necessary documentation), he would be misguided to want them sent back home. Having said that, given the topic of conversation, it is highly likely that he was talking about illegal immigrants.

As for the "speculation" that he did not get on with Sophie because she fancied black men, I have never heard anything so crazy. Who the hell is speculating this? Why?

You guys scare me

LK - has a babe the pig *NOTHING to do with Jade* my cursor is even a little pigs head with its ear flapping up and down and eyes opening and closing

I really must try to be more mature!

This was a logical conclusion after his joke, as to why he disliked Sophie frm the start. It was offered as a possible reason by a girl on another board. ( see link below).

The sound had been cutting up ( in the garden table), and it had been alex who got the question , and comparing his with everyone elses answer, his tone in answering stood out. As he refused to answer the next time he picked a controversial question, suspicion has to be raised.

The overall picture nonetheless, is that there is at least grounds to see him as racist. This is not because of his Tory background, his association with South Africa, his expat childhood, his public school education, etc., but rather based on his own comments. But granting suspicions to be sustained where appropriate (or to fall otherwise), he is not coming across well at all.

This is side-tracking on a side-track. If suspicion hasnt been raised in your mind, then fair enough. Nevertheless this has not been a particularly subjective post. Havent been limited to just CH4's representation. He is a contestant, therefore open to have his character scrutinised.

And the subsequent racist joke, would you care to explain that away?

Well, I can dislike Tim's right-wing views (and hopefully he'll change those views once he grows up a bit) but I still think he's basically a nice person although very immature.
To be fair, when BB asked him why he thought 'he'd done so well' (their words, setting him up for a fall), he proceeded to dig his own grave by saying 'it must be my personality'. But he also said: "I'm not hugely funny, I'm not stunningly good-looking and I'm not the cleverest guy in the world' - so all he was left with was his view that he's an okay bloke who is easy to live with. I call that a bit deluded, but not arrogant.
And compared to Jade, Jonny and even Alex, I do think he would be fairly easy to live with.

I think Tim's comments in the house have been over analyzed by this forum. (Though I could say the same for everyone)

I think the reason why Tim took an instant dislike to Sophie was because the group of people he wanted to associate himself with appeared to dislike Sophie as well. It clearly has nothing to do with the fact that she fancied a black guy. How soon you forget that he was sucking up to Adele after he got into the house.

Regarding the "racist" joke, I feel that it had more to do with Ignorance and insensitivity than anything else.

I don't know where he comes from, but in my home town, I can walk around the busiest street in town for an hour and every single face I see will be white. In places like this people tend to tell jokes that you would not tell in a more multicultural society, mainly due to ignorance, not racism.

Telling a racist joke does not make you racist, however if you tell it at the wrong time it can get you into a whole heap of bother (See Tim).

Out of interest, what is wrong with having right wing views?

I think telling a racist joke on national tv to people you've only known for a few weeks is nailing your colours to the flag somewhat (excuse the expression).

By 'right wing views', I just meant that he has displayed a very judgemental attitude towards women and a lack of tolerance for less privileged groups than himself. I also hated his racist joke and couldn't understand why he felt it okay to tell such a joke in any company, never mind on national TV. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt in thinking that this is a learned set of attitudes and beliefs and that he may start to question his way of thinking when he gets out into the real world, and is not cossotted in his university life any more.
I was pretty opinionated myself when I was a student, but I soon learned to think more deeply about issues and not to spout rubbish that I had been brought up with (in my case, a catholic upbringing which didn't allow tolerance for alternative lifestyles or religions).
