To see this man host a live TV show is a very painful experience. He struggles to read the idiot boards!! And seems to need a prompt just to remember his ancient catchphrases.Strictly Come Dancing is a great show in need of a Host...Such a shame to see the old coffin dodger bumble his way through every show.
RETIRE BRUCE ...PLEASE

I would add homophobia to the list of his crimes too.

The guy is a dinosaur and has no place on modern tv.

This is such a tired debate.

I invite you to name any other tv presenter who is doing live television AND making people laugh.

I can rely on Bruce Forsyth to take me laugh and that's more important than the occasional fluffed line.

I tuned in to Little Britain this week in the hopes it would give me a giggle but it seems to me it's flagging badly after just two series, like so much does these days.

Bruce has been at it for over 60 years and many of us still find him really funny. Leave him alone!

I agree that Bruce is probably the pro to do the job, but I do find it irritating the way he cuts in on the judges. It is their job to criticise the dances & let's just give them a chance & hear what they say (we don't have to agree, but the constant arguing & shouting over the top of one another is getting dull)

I like Bruce, and I am fed up with this argument too.

By the way, did anyone notice the way Tess completely fluffed her link in the results show? I don't notice anyone suggesting its time she retired early. Live TV is difficult stuff and the SCD format far more taxing than what Kate Thornton has to deal with on the X-Factor which is more like crowd control! Bruce and Tess do a great job!

Yes, I think his jokes are out of date,

Yes, I think he is wooden at times, like at the end of tonights show,

Yes, I think he talks too much over the judges,

But he is STILL the best man for the job.

I'm glad we've finally got some voices sticking up for Brucie in this forum. I'm absolutely sick to death of this pathetic whining about Bruce's presenting abilities. For a group of people who are otherwise such enormous fans of the show i am consistently left shocked at just how far off the mark so many of you are about the very essence of the show we are all here to discuss.

Brucie is PERFECT for the job. In my house we all enjoy the rickety presentation. Its all part of the fun and Brucie illuminates that himself. I love to when he fluffs the lines, i love it when he makes bad jokes. The show just wouldnt be the same without all that.

For the last time, LIGHTEN UP!!

Sorry, what? How is Bruce Forsyth homophobic?

Please elaborate. An example of his 'homophobia'. A quote, an action a clip from a website. That would be useful in backing up your point - it seems a little woolly and bizarre from where I'm standing.

Now Jim Davidson hosting SCD would be worrying, but whatever he says, I don't think that Brucie could ever be there...

I watched SCD live last night and taped the fiasco known as the X-Factor. I really enjoyed the show - even Brucie ! At least the judges behave with a little decorum and don't resort to throwing water over each other. They didn't mark the dances very fair imo, but thats another story

I presume the poster was refering to Bruce's gag last night in which he stated that dancing was full of queens.

Quite possibly the most ridiculous and over-senstive remark ever made in this forum. And thats saying something! Not an ounce of homophobia in that joke. Jeez.

Really, i despair at some of the people here. I really do.

Ah, thanks for enlightening me, Trem Two.

The over-sensitivity of some people astounds me, really.

Comments like that aren't even worth bothering about.

Tess does a brilliant job! She's extremely professional and her presenting really enhances the show. She only fluffed last night because she was being spoken to in her earpiece, so it happens.

Didn't she look gorgeous last night? She does every week - she's very attractive with a lovely personality. Her and her hubby, Vernon Kay, make a lovely couple. Tess 4 SCD 4 eva! (Keep that Natasha woman away from presenting the show, puleeze).

Bruce made me laugh last night. Considering his age, I think he is great to do this show, and still be on prime time.

We shouldn't really be knocking him.....he does a good job imo, even if his jokes do make you cringe sometimes!

"Next Will Young singing 'Happiness'... Isn't that a Ken Dodd number?"

or

"I hope you all did well on the Lottery tonight. Please remember I chose the numbers!"

Now that's what I call funny and what you can rely on Bruce to do and always without f**k or c**t or any of those other words that seem to have become what a joke must be about these days.

God you do talk some rubbish!!! The only reason he's "funny" is because he forgets his lines. And we're laughing at him not with him!!!!!!!!!

No need to be so rude to another FM...'tis against the T and C's. Especially on here.

We may not all agree with each others opinion but that doesn't mean we are talking 'rubbish'.

Yes, that is largely the case. And that would go some way to validating some of the criticisms people make if it weren't for the fact that by laughing 'at' him you are actually laughing WITH him. Bruce knows fine well his jokes are crap and that the dithers and doddles like a senile twit, but he positively plays up to that role! It all works wonderfully.

Its his relationship with the crowd both in the studio and at home which makes him ideal for the essence of the whole show. I think any evidence of the generation gap between the viewers who complain and Brucie is less to do with the man's age and jokes, and more to do with the fact that it has long been forgotten how easy-going and subtly humourous light entertainment used to be back in the day when Brucie WAS king!

The man is excellent at hosting SCD.

Bruce is a legend. I knoiw his cathprases and jokes not funny, but they're so unfunny that they actulayy become very funny if you know what I mean - that's his appeal.

The way he talked over the judges used to annoy me, but after Arlenes vicious outbursts last night I can't say I blame him!

It does look amateurish when he fluffs his lines, but he makes me laugh. He is a natural entertainer and naturally funny.

Everyone hoping for a new presenter will be sorry when they get Johnathan Ross or Patrick Kielty to present, who think they are a lot funnier and entertaining than they actually are!

I think that Bruce was far more effective in "Brucie Goes Dancing", as he was mostly let off the autocue leash and could act naturally without that particular constraint. His performance on Strictly Come Dancing is mostly adequate in my eyes - he certainly doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the dances.

Occasionally, I find his jokes quite funny. I liked his cucharacha routine to the rumba beat last night! And his line "Don't ad-lib with genius!" gave me a good belly laugh.
