This thread is nearly two years old, but I'll still add my support of Bruce - the show wouldn't be the same without him.

Most people either love him or hate him - I love him as he makes me laugh!

He's a showbiz legend, one of the last of his generation of pure entertainers.

Pretty soon all we're going to be left with are plain presenters and people famous for nothing but reality TV - there wont be anyone like Bruce who is an all-round entertainer.

When was he homophobic? Fill me in!

The thing I loathe the MOST is the way he gives a running commentary of everything everyone says - Alesha says very clearly 'I need a cup of tea' - Bruce says 'She says 'I need a cup of tea'

and the worst is when he talks over the judges as they talk - let them talk!!!!! They say good things and bad things...let us here it instead of you talking Bruce! Plleeeeaaassssee!

When I wrote this I thought I bet someone says 'it would be better' - should have guest it would be you! Are you stalking me? LOL!

I have a theory that Anton gets weak partners so he leaves in the first half of the series in case Bruce croaks and the Beeb have his replacement on hand.

All those people who think that Bruce is a legend like me should sign the petition on the 10 Downing Street Web Site. CRH has even signed it which made him go up in my estimation. Many things happen on Strictly that are not shown to the public but are often reported in the papers etc. Derek Draper recently wrote that during a technical hitch in filming Bruce sidled up to the band humming a tune. Gradually they all joined in and the studio audience was royally entertained while the technical stuff was sorted. Not many entertainers today could or would do that. IMO. Bruce just loves to entertain and he rocks.

I totally agree with your post. Brucie is old style presenting and comedy. Its family fun which is what Saturday nights used to be. I'm sick of the new breed of so called comedians who have to swear.

Its the youngsters that are moaning about him. Tess Daly is teh weakest link on the show not Bruce. Yes she looks nice but she is very patronising sometimes and all me me me. Bruce thinks of the audience.

Bruce is still good at working an audience - he's getting a bit doddery and has problems with his autocue but he's good at improvising and it's TESS who should go

I think Brucie is one of the best all round entertainers we have ever had, and I can't imagine who could fill his boots when he calls it a day. I also think that people should retire while on top of their game, and before they become embarrassing, like Cliff Richard in the singing world, Dame Vera had the good grace to retire before someone shot her. I think what I am trying to say is Brucie should make this his last year on SCD. (I'm saying that in a good way).

Hmm, not so sure. It often feels as though the audience are just laughing because they feel sorry for him.

I cringe for him a lot and find it all a bit sad to be honest. He does have good knowledge of the dances but his presenting skills are not really sharp enough for live telly anymore. I have to mute all his links

Bruce always reminds the judges that it is a family show. Kids are viewing at this time. It was the judges who brought the show to an appallingly low level last year when Bruce introduced is quite brilliant whistle. It has now lapsed again into load obnoxiousness farce and there is no whistle this year so he is being curtailed.

Bring it back to family viewing! Bruce is the only safeguard.

Bruce is an embarassment to the show. Unfunny, not entertaining and makes mistakes all the time.

How come the lady presenter has to be young "totty" and this senile goat gets to be the lead presenter?

If 'panto style' is now very rude and nasty language I am most please I keep my kids from going to them! Panto is supposed to be for the under 10s.

I love Bruce Forsyth. His a legend. No other presenter for this show, his a bit chessie but so is the show. I wish they would get rid of Tess though, as she is so patronising and talentless.

I think people forget that Bruce is 80 yrs old, I liked to be half as sprightly as him if i get to his age.

Thanks for telling us about this petition, I have been and signed as I can't believe he isn't Sir Bruce. I hope this works, the man is a legend and I always seem to be defending him on quite insulting threads these days. I've said this before but I am going to say it again. I hope Brucie continues on Strictly for the next ten years just to annoy his critics. Haha!!

Last week on Strictly he said that the public are powerful as he had found out to his cost. I wondered then if he had been reading the forums and some of the nasty things people say about him!

I think that Bruce is great and is still funny now and far beter than some of these modern day presenters

His dire attempt at being funny last night at the start of the show at the expense of poor Penny in the audience with his "If you think I'm sexy" was cringemaking in extreme. The guy does not care how much embarressment he causes to other people so that he can get a laugh.
