The dresses on SCD are marvellous, yes.
I love them, and would kill to own most of them (if I could fit into them that is )
However, who thinks that there is dress bias where Zoe and Patsy are concerned?

In Ballroom, Zoe looks like she's floating on air.
She is a marvellous dancer, granted, but she always gets the floaty dresses with bits of chiffon coming off the arms, such as in week four and last night.

Patsy never gets floaty arms and billowy bits, which is a bit a bit of a shame. Her dresses are normally stunning, but not quite as floaty, billowy, and stunning to see when she spins round.

Even in the samba, Zoe got feathers, Patsy got a christmas tree decoration stuck to her shoulder.

The dress makes half of the dance, in my opinion. That's why I found it hard to concentrate on Will's tango when Hanna appeared to have turned into a cross between a stick of Brighton Rock and a Las Vegas 'cabaret artist'.

I was transfixed by Erin's dress last night, when she did her high kicks and you saw the red, white and blue. It made the dance come alive, even though when she was backstage she looked a bit like the Wicked Queen from Snow White.

Perhaps the costume department could give Patsy a floaty chiffon number or two, see if they can drum up a bit more of that grace and elegance that makes a girl look like she should be dancing with a ballroom champion.

Erin's foxtrot dress was fabulous. I felt so sorry for Hanna; she is gorgeous, but her dress was awful (her salsa outfit was fab though).

I don't think you can blame the costume department, as far as I'm aware the professionals have a great deal of say in how their celeb is dressed, Ian's been doing a marvellous job with Zoe's outfits, she always looks great, whereas I would agree that Patsy's don't always play to the best advantage.

Erin looked beautiful, for some reason I was put in mind of a Nun having a bit of a wicked weekend away from the convent

When Hannah came down the stairs I was like WHAT is she wearing! Zoe looked beautiful as always and I don't think Patsy's dress was that flattering on her. I thought Erins dress was fabulous and that she looked so lovely, so suitable for her dance!

no bias I think it their taste saw Hannah and Andrew in Isle of Mann earlier in the year and her dresses were horrid

Having read the SCD book, they make it quite clear that the costume choice is, largely, down to the individual celebs & pros.

Apparently, some of them just don't like certain things & this is bound to have an, at times, detrimental effect on how the costume fits in with their dance (e.g. Natasha Kaplinsky, in the first series, needed a lot of arm twisting before she would wear anything even slightly revealing for the latin dances).

How can anyone think that Patsy doesn't get great dresses.
She looks amazing in them. She even had floaty wing things for the first Waltz.

Zoe has a better figure for those type of ballroom dresses than Patsy..i.e. Tall, long limbed and not very curvy.
Patsy looks fab in the latin gear that shows off her curves and truly splendid legs, (lucky thing ).

I don't believe that there is any bias going on at all.

I've just watched the tape again & have been left with the impression that Hannah's dress; with her corset outside, was a bit of a throwback to Madonna's early 80's look (the old Doonsbury line about wearing your underwear on the outside springs to mind). Perhaps is was just an attempt to capture the idea of the tango being based upon dances between Argentinian prostitutes & gauchos? If this is the case, what can we expect to see in the group dance next week? Sorry, might just have to go & have a quiet lie down in a dark room (LOL).

I actually liked the feathery affect they achieved with the hem of Patsy's dress. I know it was only done with the material; not a return to the bad old days of "Come Dancing", but I thought it was quite effective.

BTW. Just for those with bags of cash to throw around & who are that way inclined. Apparently, the ladies dresses that are worn for the show are only borrowed from Chrisanne Limited, worn for one show & then offered for sale (after suitable refurbishement), so there's at least one idea for all your Christmas boxes.

have you seen the prices of chrisanne dresses - its gone mental and its destroying competitive dance for a couple to think they must have a chrisanne dresss or god forbid a sappiel one!!!! your talking thousands and its puts many couples out of competition

i've sed this in another thread but i'll say it again, Hannah's dress was like something lily savage would wear! quite liked Karen's dress but then i'm bias, nice to see her legs for once, dunno why they seem to cover her up more

I can understand where you're coming from with this one; trhe BBC wardrobe people do say that the second hand dresses, from the program, do tend to sell for vast sums; mainly in the USA & Japan.

Actually buying one would be out of the question for most people; unless one of us is keeping a lottery win quiet, but we all have things that we'd like to have on our wish list for the day our ship comes in.

Didn't we hear on ITT a few weeks ago that Brendan used to stitch Camilla's dresses? They obviously felt no need for designer wear and they still did well competitively.

Maybe Brendan should launch a ballroom fashion label. I can imagine many women queueing up to be measured by his tape!

oh he may have stitched her frocks in the eearly days of their partnership but when in top competitions she wore chrisanne and sapiel like the rest of them though the top couples get sponsored dresses

I taped the show &, having watched it again, twice, tonight; not all lot on after "Taming .of the Shrew", I have to admit that they were right.

Anyone who can replay the show, will notice that at every turn Ian was having to pull Zoe back into a proper hold. In fact they were actually as bad for the hold as Patsy appeared to be.

The only reason I can think of that the judges didn't see this is that they don't have the advantage of replaying the dance & Zoe's floaty dress covered a lot of the mistakes up.

Of the four ballroom dancing couples, the best 2 for maintaining their holds were Colin & Will, neither of whom seem to have lost their grip on their partner, as it were, for anything other than very minute instances.

that gap which was blantantly obvious right throught the performance was main reason I was disgusted at Zoe's marks you could have drove a train through it and those Cambridge dancers were pretty spot on with their remarks
