Madonna has claimed a chart double this weekend with 'Hung Up' remaining at number one and 'Confession on a Dance Floor' entering the album chart at the top slot.

Just behind Madonna, well not just, but behind Madonna is Take That, with the 'For the Record' programme clearly giving the 'Ultimate Collection' a boost in sales.

Green Day's tour release enters at #6, four places above Babyshambles at #10, who started off in a more reasonable position.

Another collection of hits now as Savage Garden's 'Truely Madly Completely' enters at #25, a few places up on Blue's Simon Webbe debut album 'Sanctuary' at #28.

In the singles chart in a hotly contested battle the Black Eyed Peas have entered at #3 fending off competition from Girls Aloud (#4), Will Young (#5) and Liberty X (#6) - who with the help of Children In Need climb from their original midweek position of #12.

Having started off the week suprisingly well the White Stripes have managed to stay in the top 10 at 10 with the Darkness' so-called major rock tune only entering at #8.

The should-be-higher entry this week goes to The Modern with 'Jane Falls Down' just managing #35. Boo.

It's quite an interesting week then...I'm very suprised at BEP and Girls Aloud being where they are, I thought Will Young would get either #2 or #3. Are Take That at #2 in the albums then??? That's quite shocking lol - but they've made a comeback.

Don't think that's wholly right, as Arctic Monkeys are number 9 from what I've seen?

Hurrah! Girls Aloud win the battle of the ex-talent show contestants.[]

I'm sure, however, Will Young will win the war when his album is released.

Not surprised at Madonna staying top but Westlife? Who is buying it still? And as for GA, it must be the little girlies with their pocket money going out on Saturday to get it. They were dire on CIN! (As was Madonna)

At least Will had a top 5.

And Fenixx, neither Will nor GA are ex-reality stars, they are from talent shows. Pop Idol and Popstars:The Rivals were never reality shows.

I agree... I think Will Young has more mature audience which tends to buy albums, where as Girls Aloud has a teenybopper audience and parents are happy to buy the singles for the kids as they are cheaper...

I won't be buying any singles... just Will Young’s album....

I agree, i'm also going to buy Will's album i'm sure he'd rather have a number 1 album than a number 1 single

Babyshambles only went in at Number 10.
That' s a bit poor considering the amount of tabloid space he gets.

Thanks for editing your post Fenixx!

Off to HMV tomorrow to get my copy of the album, plus a copy of the sound-track to "Mrs Henderson Presents" - two Will albums tomorrow!

Was shocked that Girls Aloud managed to beat Will! #6 #5 and #4 are all reality tv winners, or losers in Liberty X's case!

How can Liberty X be losers, they may have come 2nd to Hearsay but they have had more success and been around much longer so I 'd say that they where the real winners

What have G4 sales got to do with Madonna's sales then?

Surely you are not trying to imply because they may have sold more albums in Britain in the 1st week that it actually means anything?
