Are we having the wool pulled over our eyes or am I just going soft?

From the first moment I say Jade enter the BB house I disliked her loud abrasive personality. When she was bullying Sophie, I became more enraged and became a “get Jade out” member.

But last night on C4 they showed you Jade crying her heart out to Jonny, and for the first time, did I see the real Jade or has the BB producers managed to pull the wool over my eyes?

Her confusion of tictac and tactics led me to think that maybe the girl is actually dyslexic. This being a common problem, I believe, amongst people with this phenomenon. Which then made me think that all her life she has been made out to be “thick” her herself admitting or thinking this, never really understanding why she found difficulty in learning reading and probably writing.

She probably realised that it was easier to go with the swing and laugh with people laughing at her than try and defend herself, she was accepted into the group easier being the butt of everyone else’s jokes.

I think that maybe this is the reason why we see flashes of intellectual behaviour and then start thinking that Jade is ‘acting stupid’ and isn’t really as thick as she makes out?

When she took her clothes off I felt sorry for her, when she was pouring her heart out to Jonny, I was saddened.

Have we got her wrong? Was her bitching about Sophie instigated by other HM’s and the puppet task set out by BB, and indication of what BB think has been going on?

Was her going around everyone telling tales a clever ploy by a nasty nick type person trying to influence votes for nomination or just a young immature lady trying her best to get on with everyone in the only way she thought she could?

I’m thinking I’ve got her all wrong?

What about you? YOU DECIDE!

Good post. But it goes to show how different people percive different things. I honestly thought the whole tic-tacs/tactics thing was bullshit. She claimed to not even know what tactics are!

You could be completely right, but as I say, it wasnt the impression I got, in fact I thought she started to laugh just after she said tictacs etc.

Nice.

you will see that Jonny laughs at her saying tic-tacs, and like her true self ,she joins him in laughing at herself. Like a defence mechanism.

I was wondering last night about the highlights -

I haven't been watching live E4 this week and if you watched the highlights it looked like the housemates were being really nasty to Jade and that she was the "victim" so to speak. Was this careful editing (ie. Alex & Kate in the bath ignoring Jade when she comes in?) or have the tables really turned and the housemates have become as vicious as Jade herself was?

I'd appreciate any ideas from people who have seen the unedited feeds.

I have been watching the feeds on C4 and Jade is being isolated from the rest of the group. I think now she feels she has no one in the house to call a friend and it is getting to her. Jade thought that she was close to PJ but he was really horrible to her, much worse than they showed on C4.

C4 are doing some canny editing to sway our votes. I also think that they decided on last weeks task last minute as they wanted Jade to stay. It was their only hope that she may have a stay of execution.

I felt really sorry for her when she took her clothes off. It was cruel for them to allow the game to go so far, and for C4 to show it so blatantly. They have never showed the 'follow the van' at its climax on C4 have they?

...but why do you have to say this....why is any of the rest of what you say anything to do with the producers *pulling the wool over your eyes*?

Jade acts the way she does, for whatever reasons, but none of it is orchestrated by the producers.

No way is Jade THAT stupid...she knows full well what tic tacs are as well as tactical play...I think she is a bit lost at sea at the moment though, because she has fried her chips to a crisp where the other housemates are concerned, which of course, leaves us to decide wether to 'save' her or not!!
A fine piece of emotional manipulation if you ask me...This is a studio game, not castaway...even there you can ask to leave

I think we will never the know the truth about her. I think she is more intellegent than she makes out, and I think she definately has a very nasty side to her, but I also think she is very immature when it comes to interacting with people which is why she acted like such a bully towards Sophie, and was easily used by Adele. I do feel very sorry for her, and I think this experience will either be the making or the breaking of her. I thought she was very brave when she admitted that she wanted to learn things and improve herself, and I just hope that she can make something positve out of it. Anyone can turn their lives around if they want to.

I have to say that for the first few weeks, Jade was not my most favourite member of the houshold, however I have gradually grown to quite like her.

At least she has said she has recognised she has been wrong in the past, and now wants to change - which is the fundamental basis of all personal growth. Sure she may have bitched behind everyones backs, but after last nights episode they are all at it, even golden balls Alex.

The majority of the group, with the exception of Jonny, seems to have turned on her in the nastiest way, and even Kate (my favourite) has gone down in my estimation after the stripping fiasco and ignoring her last night

Jade is very street savvy, she is the one that will take care of you in the pup, when you get drunk. She will give you her last penny to buy some ciggie;s.But if you are her friend, ie. Adele Alex Sandy. she will do anything for you.she is getting the blame not only for herself but for the other 3 as well. now she is in a quandary. She doesn't know how to get out of. I think the way PJ spoke to her the other night has knocked her for Six. Because she know's she has never said anything about him.
She should be taken care of. for a change, and the press should be ashamed, the way they are using her. Alex could do with getting his doing's aired.

Well, I always like to think that one of the more positive aspects of humanity is the ability to forgive and give someone a chance.
Jade I think hasnt really done anythign 'bad' lately, maybe irrisponsible when drunk(eg stripping, albeit egged on by the rest), but she hasnt done anything really nasty since Adele left.

I also think the press coverage of her is way way beyond decency.

paraphrased from a JOhn lennon song.

Everyones talking 'bout Jadism, sadism, pigisms, thickism's , bitchisms, uglyisms'
'All we are saying ..is give Jade a chance'

Ok..il get me coat.

But Im willing to give Jade a chance. If she throws it all back in my face then I aint really lost nothing, but untill she does, Ill give her the benefit of the doubt.

To answer this question first Iain, I was meaning by the way the C4 show is being editted. The producers can choose to show the good side of the people we dont like and the bad side of the HM's we do therefore influencing our thoughts and hence pulling the wool over our eyes.

Laurabelle, you seemed to have missed my point of the dyslexia. Dyslexic people are not stupid, infact it has been proven that they can be more intellectual than people without dyslexia. But they mix up letters when writing and reading as well as speaking common words i.e. tictac - tactic. So its not being 'THAT Stupid' . I don't disagree with your views as I had them myself, all I'm saying is, was my views correct, have I been manipulated by BB editors and is Jade as bad as we first thought?

Not wishing to be argumentative but comments like "we all know the truth about Jade" etc kind of puts everyone as having the same opinion. Well life aint like that, we all have different opinions and they dont have to be right or wrong. In the same way we are ALL different, Jade is Jade, why does it have to be that she must be putting on an act? she cant possibly be that stupid? etc etc. Believe it or not, there are many Jades about, it is possible to be different from the so called "norm".

Jades on a steep learning curve, many of us have to do over a long period of time, for her its been 9 weeks. I genuinelly believe, Jade has not "tictacs" <g> and that actually half the time she forgets shes on camera. But hey thats just my perception.

My views exactly Digipal...she is the only member who feels she HAS faults .
I'm voting for her simply because I feel that the "hate" campaign has been centred on this girl alone...yet I feel she is the only one who may come out of this and think ..hey i can be a pretty horrible person sometimes and DO something to change that .

I'll be watching closely for the next couple of weeks ..to see if anything happens to change my views ....

Having been exposed to poeple like Jade I can tell you the reason the group are turning on her is because she is doing their heads in.

The emotional cost of someone this demanding - who bursts into tears who needs hours of looking after etc. is very draining. They have simply run out of patience.

Now she has pissed off everyone she lives with poeple are now starting to feel sorry for her ?? The mind boggles.

If Jade wins it won't be the making of her BTW - it will be another spectacular win for - "if I act like I don't understand and cry and shout then I will get my own way" - and whats more it seems to work on the general public as well ! She won't get a job in the media or if she does she will loose it very fast because she will employ these tactics as well - and who wants to work with someone like that.

I am glad that people are getting a bit more perspective on Jade but don't go overboard

It was not in my head to suggest that dyslexic people are stupid I am so sorry it came across like that...I just felt that Jade was 'playing' with the words for effect, I'm quite happy to be wrong...It's a game & Jade has not mentioned dyslexic problems thus far but your point is valid. My son is dyslexic and very talented so please know I meant no offence...Everyone deserves another chance

That may be true on the night Spoon ...but then she'll probably have some kind person give her nine weeks of "hate" press ...and have idiots sending her "hate" mail and I dont think any media company is going to be brave enough to employ her

I hardly think she's going to escape unscathed is she

Yes spoon, you are right, but I guess we have to ask the question "why". why are some people so needy and behave in a way that seems so inappropriate? Perhaps its a lifetimes learning, and until someone who DOES have the time and patience to get beyond all that, work with it, it wont change.

Im hoping Jade gets the help she needs on her exit from the house (if thats what she wants).

Spoon for some reason even though it was just typed PJ's voice popped in to my head..

I haven't said she should win, and I think that anyone stating that any housemate SHOULD win is probably just hoping that their favourite WILL win. I don't think any HM deserves to win, its a game after all.

Jade has upset everyone in the house, but was it all her own doing or was she influenced? Tthats all I ask that you ask yourselves before jumping on the Jade haters band wagon, which I just got off of.

I no longer hate her, I dont think winning it will help her, apart from having some money, which would probably disappear quicker than CRAIG BB1 winner.

When someone isn't pulling her strings has she been as annoying?.. Is she still as annoying now as when Sophie was in the house?

What I think, and it is only my opinion is, that she may not know she is dyslexic. In HER family circle do you think she would receive the same support from her parents as you have given to your Son?

More liked laughed at when she gets mixed up?

I am not saying Jade shouldn't have sympathy - she should and she will need help to cope with all the bad press I agree as well.

What I am really am trying to balance is the "Jade should win" thing.

I don't think she has had her strings pulled - she is 21 and her own person - she is not as stupid as she makes out. [The dislexia thing rings true actually - since she went to an ok school - I have met (very broadly) two types of dyslexics - the kind that are not stupid but have been told they are - often have a lot of issues 'cos no one (often including themselves)recognizes they have a brain. The other sort is the ones that do well no matter what - they know they have a brain and climb over the hurdles to use it - sadly our education system didn't really encourage this kind of treatment of dyslexics]

Anyway - in summary - Jade is her own person and she should live with the consequences of her actions (upset housemates). She should NOT be subjected to hate campaings by us or the media. And I hope she does well in life I really do - I don't think her winning BB will or should be one of those things

Couple of additional points after reading back my post. I assume there ARE stupid dyslexics but I haven't met any - all the ones I know or have known are of average or above average intelligence. And I am not a brummie but I am a northener if that helps
