Summary advice on boosters and splitters

Hi,

I am planning on upgrading to the PVRT5800 soon, but I have a few questions on aerial boosters and splitters.

My current scenario is that I have a basic Goodmans GDB3 downstairs, and an old Nokia box upstairs. These are fed from an aging outdoor aerial, helped by a powered booster and splitter down in the lounge.

On the whole, my current picture is good, more so on the Nokia than the Goodmans, but there are still a few problems. On ITV, C4, E4, etc... the picture can crackle every now and again. BBC et al, however, are rock solid.

My question is this:

1) Will the removal of the Goodmans, to be replaced by the Toppy, cause more strain on my aerial, due to the fact I will now be powering 3 tuners in total, rather than 2?

2) If so, can I attach *another* powered splitter to one of the outputs from my current powered splitter, to provide 2 equal inputs to the back of the Toppy?

In general, I am hoping that the Toppy will be more sensitive than the £30 Goodmans, and I'll be happy!

Thanks for any help.

I changed form a GDB2 to a Toppy as my main DTT box, and as far as reception goes it looked like this:
GDB2 displayed about 1/4 to 1/2 on the signal bar , toppy says it is 67-85% strength with 98% quality.
After changing the conectors on the RF lead i upped this to 70-96% and 99% quality.
I then put the signal booster right next to the aeriel ( loft 'hung' as the outdoor one wasnt good enough for the GDB2 and i didint
want to be farting around ontop of a ladder) and that got the signal strength up to 85-99% and the quality between 99-100%

on the GDB2/3 if you are getting a signal stregth of half ( or just under) the toppy shouldnt have any problems.
although with changing any box be prepared that you may need to alter your aeriel and its leads ( ie upgrade)
