Where do they go from here?
I've been thinking about it since Saturday's show. Just what DOES the future hold for the finalists. I reached a few conclusions...none of them all that good I'm afraid.
Brenda - not West End as Simon seems to think, roles for black actress/singers of a certain age are few and far between in musical theatre. Of course it's not right but that's the reality. She's going to end up doing the superior cabaret/pub circuit. Andy - see Brenda Shayne - if he wins which seems likely, a brief period of success a la Gareth Gates, like him he's pretty enough but is no more than averagely talented in a non-outstanding way. I predict maybe a couple of charting singles may be even a #1 from two albums and then a rapid descent into obscurity. Journey South - probably the only act I forsee getting some lasting success on a reasonable 'cultish' scale (they are never going to be megastars) but only IF their original material is as good as I think it might be AND they can find themself a good indie label AND resist the impulse to do big rock anthem covers. Conway Sisters - will be pushed by Louis as the NEXT BIG THING in girl bands but will disappear as completely and quickly as B*witched did and be seen at Irish festivals and weddings ever after. Chico - a couple of #1 novelty singles and an album then a career in tv doing 'lite' entertainment possibly as a presenter on children's Saturday morning tv. So what do others 'predict' for our finalists? Disclaimer: When I am proved ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY WRONG on all counts please bear in mind that I am operating 'blind' on this since an unfortunate incident when I tripped over one of my cats as I was carrying my crystal ball down the stairs resulted in it shattering into a million pieces and although I've managed to piece most of it back together the 'picture' isn't all that clear.

Tend to agree somewhat though if Chico gets a number one hit or becomes a childrens TV presenter I will be MOST suprised. He should go back to what he does best....
