I agree
Anyone that likes GA shouldn't listen to the original as GA's is very poor in comparison
Nice video though

She certainly was married to Weller (although hasn't every woman been? ) The original still ranks as one of my all time favourite singles. Such a shame a set of corporate poodles have chosen to cash in on it. Personally hope it bombs...but it probably won't.

I think the record was 9 number 1's, they only had 10 singles out. That isn't very many.

I seriously doubt GA will beat the sales the Spice Girls achieved or crack America.

Have GA sold a million of anything yet?

Nope lol I hate how they are constantly compared to the Spices its bugz me so much. Spice Girls were a global phenomenon who sold something like 40 million albums + sold out stadiums in the USA, as if GA would ever sell out stadiums in the UK let alone the USA.

It's rubbish, and their singing sounds so engineered, if you get what I mean.

yep, i think you'll find that the Spicies had 10 top 10 singles of which 9 went to number one. Altogether they sold near 7.5 million singles.

girls aloud have had 10 top 10 singles, 2 of which have been number 1 and altogether have sold around 1.5 million.

Sorry, but Girls Aloud don't even come close, although some of their music is quite good.

but you have to consider how fickle the pop charts have become in the last couple of years, for instance no where near the same number of singles are bought now as they were 6/7 years ago, also bands that dont have immediate chart "success" are often dropped by record labels. so for GA to have managed 10 successive top 10 hits is fairly good by currant standards.

dont think girls aloud will ever top the spice girls sucess but its dont think its cause the spice girls were any more talented. they came around at the right time and were different enough to grab the worlds attention, it was clever marketing more than anything. they certainly were no better singers than ga, or performers, or better looking, and the songs were no better lets face it. i know they sold millions in america, but they were seen as more of a novelty act over there than a serious act. i remember a few years ago seeing trl usa and they played one of there songs for a joke, and everyone booed and started laughting.
not really feeling girls aloud's new song, it's a bit on the lame side, bit dull.

I like Girls Aloud, which is quite suprising considering my usual taste in music, but I think they need to stick to faster songs. See the Day is alrite, but Stand by you was rubbish IMO. Love Machine is my favourite song by them.

As for matching the Spice Girls, well they were pinoneers, so even if they do they'll never get the same recognition and they wont be remember the way the Spice Girls will

I know exactly what you mean. I call it singing-by-numbers; there is no emotion in what they are singing and they could almost be 'singing' the contents of the side of a cereal packet rather than the song lyric.

I think that everyone is right about singles not selling as many nowadays, but even still, 8 out of GA's singles haven't sold the most out of the singles that were bought that week - that says something.

I don't think the Spice Girls were better looking, certainly not better singers, however they came from no-where unlike GA who had legions of fans before even releasing their first single.

I do disagree with the comment about their songs. I think every Spice Girls song is better than any GA song. The only GA song I've liked is Jump - and that's not even their song.

How many GA songs are there anyway? Can't be that many... 4 or 5?

2 Become 1
Goodbye
Spice Up Your Life
Say You'll Be There
Who Do You Think You Are
Holler
Viva Forever

All better than any GA song in my opinion.

But the main thing was they all had great (even if fake) personalities that most people at the time identified with. GA are just another bunch of tarts there are dozens of them in the charts that are exactly the same bringing out the same sort of songs.

.
i assume you are asking how many of the songs they have done are not covers if so there was 8 are (which 8 out of 10 being origionals is not bad, considering some pop acts seem to pour out god knows how many covers in a row, and that one of the covers was because they were asked to do it for the film sound track and another because they were asked to do it for children in need)

the origionals are:

Biology
Long Hot Summer
Wake Me Up
Love Machine
The Show
Life Got Cold
No Good Advice
Sound Of the Underground

so far they have only released 2 covers as singles on their own
(i'll stand by you and jump ) and they have one on the albums (ie girls on film, )

i personally prefer some of their album tracks that have not been released as singles - ie. real life, thank me daddy, big brother)

I think GIRLS ALOUD should have recorded a more stripped-down version of the song and it could have been quite good. I just think their version is too over-produced. The beauty of the original song was that it was quite low-key in it's simplicity.
