Ah yes! Phyliss and Percy still unconfirmed. What about Maude - did she die? Or just go to Mayfield Court?

phyllis percy and maud all moved to the same old peoples home betty mentions it to hilda in the coronation street video with her and jean alexander talking about the street in great detail. this video came out years ago about 1997. betty driver gets a lot of dialogue in this also as she is best m8s with hilda and keeps her up to date with the goings on in weatherfield.i do hope betty appears soon shes been out of it ages and no one has even mentioned her apart from weeks ago when sean said to violet cant betty cover but they got interrupted.

All the actresses died years ago, so it is unlikely that they would refer to their deaths now.”

In 1987 they did a special video about Elsie, cos Pat had died the year before, and the link to all the clips they showed was Linda visiting the street - and talking to Emily and Mike over a cuppa tea in Emily's, and they both told her how sorry they were to hear Elsie had died.

I know that wasn't in an actual episode, but the fact they used Mike and Emily seemed to say it was 'real' that Elsie had died.

And Ena was born in 1900 (she mentioned it was her 76th birthday in a 1976 episode) so it's a fair bet she's no longer with us!

For example why didnt Jack and Vera say to Deirdre they met Ray in Las Vegas?
I suppose Annie Walker could still be alive as her character was younger than the actress so she would be about 96 now. Ena would be about 107 so presume she is dead. Although a few years ago Ken tried to make contact with Billy Walker so must be presumed Aniie has died.
Im not sure why Coronation Street never mentioned what happened to these characters.
Perhaps they believe in creating abit of mystery and keeping the spirit of the characters alive after the actors have died.
Also in Crossroads I dont think they ever said Meg had died.”

Did he try Yorkshire? A place they call Emmerdale?

If Elsie did die why was there no mention by anybody else? Emily would have known her but would Mike have known her that well?
I have searched for that 1987 video on ebay to no avail.
They could pretend she is still alive and maybe have her die for the 50th anniversary episode in 5 years time. A good way to bring old characters back for a quick visit.

Mike knew her very well! When he first appeared he gave her a job as supervisor in his factory after he bought the boutique she and Gail worked in, and she worked for him on and off for years. He knew her for 8 years and they were very pally. He actually knew her better than Emily did!

They could do a great (and better than Brighton Belles - see IMDB) UK version of Golden Girls with all the Mayfield Court residents!

not necessarily...if anyone could live to be 105, it'd be Ena Sharples!

I think the chances of Ena being alive today as small. She suffered from ill health during the late 1970s so I doubt she'd live to 105

Sadly Jill Summers (Phyliss) is dead in real life, died in very early 1997. I wonder if they ever mentioned about the wonderful Minnie Caldwell (who went to live at Whaley Bridge with Handel Gartside).
Coronation St

Minnie was last seen in April 1976, she had no proper exit storyline as it was probabaly expected that she would return but never did. It was said she was away for a while and then eventually in Oct 1976 it was confirmed she had left for good
