I am never buying a Sony BMG CD again!
Check the news....
20 millions CD's by this company are loaded with software that even if you just put it in a computer and don't do anything, still installs software that tells Sony exactly what you listen to, when and how.... It doesn't ask you if it can, you don't have a choice to stop it and Sony BMG refuse to fix it or replace the CD's!!!! I'm sorry... but I am not buying another CD from them... I use my laptop and PC's at work to listen to them quite often so it's just not suitable for me anymore... |

Apparently, the fix is worse than the original thing!! It leaves a file on the system which can open a "backdoor" to the computer.
They're recalling their CDs though. Amazon are refunding their customers, too, and I think music shops will be. |

I was given to understand that this has been sorted and it is only in the US that it happened anyway.
Don't panic! Why not listen to your SonyBMG CDs on a CD player? And if you want it on your computer, download! |

No that’s the new software they are trialling on about 50 CD's called First4Internet's XCP technology... this is the other software they have been using called SunnComm MediaMax technology....
Even autoplay disable doesn't stop it if you press play on any media player in a PC.... the other MediaMax software is out and about on about on 20 million CD's and are not being recalled or offered a patch to remove! a few states in America have launched legal action over it breaking the law... Sod Sony if they think I'm gonna buy legit music from them in future.... I do not download music illegally.... we buy the CD or from a legal online store and this is how they treat us... the legit customers... |
