Had my Toppy connected to my TV and to my VCR for a weeks or so (just while i watched the last things I'd taped on vcr) - dont need the VCR now, so tried to connect the dvd palyer to the toppy (with scart) but dont seem to be able to get a picture. Is this because it is not possible to connect a dvd player to the toppy or is there another reason.

Nope that should work. I think you need to list out exactly how you've got everything connected like "DVD player scart A->Toppy Scart B, Toppy Scart A->TV scart A, etc."
