For several hundred years we've all been waiting to find out how long is a piece of string.

Question:
Why are you all waiting for something that's been delayed since late September? There are comparable machines out now.

The above was not intended as a question to the forum, but was what I asked Philips customer care, and I posted their reply in my previous post. Sorry if I may have caused some confusion

Hmmm, all these replies make uncomfortable reading... I think I'm drawing ever closer to asking ED for a full refund. See what I can get for 350ish elsewhere...

LOL.. I should've called ED first!!!

By all accounts their stock was due in last Friday, but have been delayed by "a couple of days". So I'm told, I can expect it by the end of this week... oink oink flap flap....

How sure are you that they will deliver on their promises this time - they have not in the past?

I've just typed a long message about ED, realized it wasn't relevant and deleted it. But, yeah, how much do you trust ED?

Here in Germany I have just had a reply to my query from Philips

der DVDR7300H/02 wird voraussichtlich wieder ab Ende März erhältlich sein. Wir bedauern, dass wir Ihnen keinen genaueren Daten geben können.

Its says from the End of March!!!!!!.

I guess the firmware is just not stable enough yet.

Just saw this over on cheapelectricals.co.uk:

We are sorry to say, that Philips have decided to withdraw this product from their current range and replace it with the DVDR7250.

Record up to 400 hours of TV on the 250 GB hard disk without having to worry where to store it. There have been several technical problems with this item and the launch has been delayed for a third time, we will keep you inormed via the site.
Which sounds suspiciously inbetween the 7200 model that didn't appear from last year and the now mythical 7300.

So which feature/s were the ones they couldn't get working?... the ones missing when we get to see the 7250 spec compared to the 7300. Whenever that will be - nothing up on Philips or the 'Web according to Google' yet.

And what about the 9000?

Well, it's a done deal ! I've cancelled my Philips order with EmpireDirect, in favour of a Pioneer DVR530HS. Not quite the same spec as the Philips....

Ok, well just to throw this into the pot...

I got an e-mail from Philips last week saying that the DVDR 7300H has been available in the UK since December 05!?!

This sounds like total balls, as NO ONE I've spoken to has had anything from Philips at all. ED say it will be later in Feb, people on here saying Philips have said it's being withdrawn...I phone Philips to see wth is going on and they confirmed their email to me saying it is already out and to contact my retailer!

I've copied all the differing responses people have got into one email back to them with the question: "WHICH IS IT THEN!?"

So we'll see eh.

Meanwhile, if anyone finds anything even remotely within the same spec and price range please do post it on here. Ta.

Jim.

Trust me... the Philips 7300H is VAPOURWARE, at least in the UK... Move to Holland and/or Germany might get you a dodgy one...

Well, having plumped for the Pioneer machine, all I can say is thanks Philips for being sooooooooooo bloody slow to market with the 7300H.

This Pioneer machine is bloody awesome! Could've done with a bigger drive (I opted for the 160Gb instead of 250Gb), other than that, the firmware is nothing short of outstanding! Editing a breeze, sets up with more video/audio setting you can shake a stick at!

How are you finding this box now? Are you missing the option of having the dual sided disk recrding or the HDMI technology? Is the HD too small @ 160GB or is this sufficient?

The 530HS supports dual layer discs The 160Gb disc is the same capacity as the old LiteOn 5045 the Philips was going to replace. That said, in flat out quality mode, 68 hours is plenty big enough for the sort of recording I do...

As for not having HDMI - that's no big deal really. It has progressive component outputs for my Relisys 32" LCD, that's all that really mattered...

Overal I'm pleased as punch with the Pioneer

Apparently back in the shops in Holland, but no-one's interested because of serious faults encountered.

Cheap Electricals now say they are selling the 7300 after previously saying it was being withdrawn in favour of the 7250.

Mind u, the 7300 is now £380 and the year has advanced by one since we were first promissed it.

The 7250 is still there - due soon, £380 with freeview decoder. The 9000 is still delayed and £644. Nice to see some things never change then

So who has the guts to try this in the UK?

Having had a back order with Empire Direct since December I rang them on Friday and they said the 7300H was finally in the warehouse and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

Hi Airwolf,

Well it's the million dollar question. Did you receive the 7300 as planned ?
