Do you still have or use a pager?
I found my old BT Pager in a box in the attic the other week, and wondered if people still used them. I also wondered if mine still worked, but can't remember the number as it's rubbed off the back, and guess the number probably got changed some time ago, I think it used to be 04325 then something... so what would that have changed to when the 07's came in??
I also remember getting free football updates, and how it used to go mad on a Saturday with all the football scores. |

Memories....
I remember getting my BT Easyreach from the Halifax for £30 in Summer '97 because I opened a student account. Yep, it was 04325...........
Never bothered with the Footy Results, Lotto numbers did me fine..... |

A Pager? You were lucky! Our dad made us use an abacus and when we'd get home he'd dance on our graves!!

Don't know how much help it will be but 04325 changed to 076 25 when all the codes an numbers for mobiles / pagers etc where changed back in 2000.

Anyone know what the deal was on the free News/Sport messages? Was there a time limit? Expires after 3 years or something? Mine was the BT Easyreach also from Halifax in the late 90's. Cheers guys Billinge |

Pager
I have a Motorola minicall pager and is on the Pageone network (Formerly Mercury).
BT/O2 paging closed in 2004 and customers were moved to Pageone. If you find a ZAP or Minicall pager, then why not put some batteries inside and use them again! My pager was inactive for some time and pageone reactivated it. Pageone no longer sells Minicall pagers. Visit the below sites for information on paging services: Page OneVodafone paging O2 Paging / BT Easyreach (latest info) |

Interesting question this. I have a pager and a blackberry for work, the logic being that if the mobile network goes down in disaster situation then the pager network may not. I assumed they'd use the same network, but it's been suggested to me that Blackberry, pager and mobile networks are 3 different things. Can anyone confirm or dispute this? |

Paging
Paging is seperate from mobile communication although similar to mobile SMS.
Not sure about Blackberry though. |

Cant remember what I had, was in about 1997, people would call your number and leave a message, and the device would play back the message, only had a speaker, no microphone, and it did show the number of the caller!

I don't like having to carry both a pager and phone for work.
We carry pagers that have individual numbers but all respond to a group number. We only want to recieve text messages. Is there anyway to have mobiles receive these pager messages on the vodaphone network. |

Page One
Unfortunately, I don't think Vodafone are offering this facility and don't think that they ever will since Paging is becoming less popular.
Page One Communications (Mercury Paging) has a very efficient and up-to-date network and offers this facility, please go to the below link: Page One Comms |

Came across this thread by accident. I want to setup an IT server notification system with these units offered by TCS...
http://www.wirelessdatascreen.com However I have no interest in the financial data - so if anyone knows where I can get hold of a spare/secondhand unit or two then please let me know. Perhaps you have them in a box gathering dust! Units are Philips PRG 2310 or sometimes referred to 'Messenger Lux'. I've emailed everyone including Philips, UK paging suppliers and operators and no-one has been able to help.... Anyone else running such a system? It'd be interesting to hear about your experiences. In my opinion paging is still the only reliable method of messaging, assuming you stay in coverage. SMS can be delayed, especially at New Year

I had an EasyReach, people always used to complain in the early days that the people that used to take the message down were a sarcastic bunch!

I discovered my old Voda Zap! pager, stuck a battery in, called the number, they answered within a heartbeat and relayed my message to my pager within seconds!
So the old systems are still working (heaven knows what the cost of an ff9 call is though!) Can't get the text to pager, or the email to pager interfaces working though. Now, all I need is a reason to use it!
