I wasn't listening very well but I'm sure I heard him saying that people not liking him because he speaks 'nicely' was very 'gay'!!

Did I imagine that???

He may have said it, but I don't think anything homophobic was meant by it, for once. He was halfway through a rant about being discriminated against because he is posh. Perhaps he is due a wakeup call, after all he has said discriminatory things about the disabled, different ethnicities and gender.

Well if if said it was 'black' it would be offensive, I bet!!

The anti-Tim HATRED started before he had time to really say anthing. The absolute truth is that certain types of prejudice are ingrained.

Tim has money, went to public school, talks with a posh accent, went to university, etc etc. The very things that are guaranteed to set him aside from the plebs that think the world owes them a living and can't see why someone else should have got all that privilige so easily ;o)

Tim's biggest crime though is in not playing the game. By not modifying himself for the camera, for saying things as they are and in particular for mocking the whole BB experience (as the panto it is) he should be beaten to a pulp (sic).

The "audience" want it to be real but heaven forbid anyone in there who lets anything real show. We all have faults ... but the HM's are not allowed them ...

There's nothing 'posh' about the boy from Upton on Severn.

He might sound 'posh' compared to the Bermondsey Battleaxe or the Essex brigade and the chirpy Jonny Geordie but its just a regional accent.

He won't sound very posh in his home area as I don't sound posh in mine - but DO in other parts of this sceptred isle.

No, Tim's biggest crime is probably speaking his opinion too openly. I don't care if it comes from the mouth of a someone raised on a council estate or someone educated through Eton (or similar public school) there is no place in this society for racist jokes.

I never tell them and have never laughed at them, they are for me the lowest form of humour. Maybe i'm being shallow, but I would rather see the 'pantomime' antics of Kate and Jonny than the vile hate that flows from Tim's mouth.

I have met a load of people who have money and could be considered 'posh'. Yet they haven't let it change them, they don't consider themselves superior to anybody. Tim, for me, does consider himself superior, whether it be through the fact that he has been well educated or has money.

He says in the Diary Room that he doesn't like 'easy' girls yet then says that he is well up for a one night stand during one of the discussions. All Tim seems to do is complain. He signed up for Big Brother, he should have known what that would mean yet he doesn't seem willing to play by it's rules.

-- Added

Tim is the one who states himself that he is posh. I don't know and don't care whether he is or not. He has shown by his attitude in the house that he isn't a very nice man. All reason enough for me to want him out.

I asked on another thread why the hell he was in there!!!

It's not something that you do blindfolded is it?

I loathe Tim and his type.

He tells racist jokes or talks about one night stands because he thinks it will sound 'good' to the lads in there.

He desperately wants to be accepted as a 'bloke' in there - but he's not and his mummy's boy character keeps seeping through his pitiful attempts at being - laddish and a good blokey bloke.

<<No, Tim's biggest crime is probably speaking his opinion too openly.>>
Exactly: he did not modify what he said for the TV audience.
Unlike in Jade's case C4 chose to show the comment rather than silence it.

<<I don't care if it comes from the mouth of a someone raised on a council estate or someone educated through Eton (or similar public school) there is no place in this society for racist jokes. >>
They are however still there. They are everywhere. I fully agree they are inappropriate and there is a shift but the world is not a perfect place. I have been subject to racial abuse and physical threats based on my colour. It is unpleasant. I have also been called a "honkey" by black friends and laughed with them at anti-white jokes.

<<I never tell them and have never laughed at them, they are for me the lowest form of humour.>>
So what forms of prejudice do you laugh about then?
The truth is that nearly all jokes are "prejudiced" in one form or another. in the workplace now my company forbids any form of discrimination on the grounds of

race
colour (not the same thing)
religion
gender
age
sexuality
handicap
and a long list of other things ....

so where are the jokes that don't touch on any of those dangerous subjects? Or don't you laugh at any of them either?

How do you know when Tim's dad was the pilot on your plane?
it carries on whining when they turn the engines off ...

I loathe Tim and I'm not trying to excuse him but ... I lived in Hong Kong and all the ex-pat brats seem to use "gay" as a substitute for "lame". I'd never heard it used in that context before I lived there and I was shocked to hear my cousin say it. But I don't think they're being homophobic or intentionally offensive.

Either way, Tim's still an idiot.

My 18-year old nephew used it in that context on the phone last night when he was talking about his mates. He's not homophobic - it's just teenspeak.

... otherwise he'd have said 'Oops, sorry, no offence, like!' to his lesbian auntie.

Just to clear up the original question, yes, he does use the word "gay" in a derogatory way.

He says "that's gay, it's shit" and uses the word to describe something as bad or crap. I'm not sure he even realises what he's doing.

When he cried over not seeing Johanna on the videos, he said "sorry for being so gay" to the group. He uses the word all the time, when he's annoyed.

Nah Tims biggest crime is being a w**ker

His views on just about everything are stupid and childish.

His comments about how he should be allwoed to park in disabled parking spaces realy got me angry.

One of my offsprings has referred to my posting on this forum as "gay" which is a refreshing change from "sad oldgit" and "knob"

ps - not trying to excuse Tim in any way he's still an insufferable little t*at

The little Sausages are inclined to use 'gay' instead of sad, pathetc, lame etc., and I wish they wouldn't. They are not homophobic (they have a gay aunt as well ) I just find it rather boring when I hear it all the time . I don't think Tim can be blamed for this, tho' there are a lot of things about him I don't like. And by the way he IS NOT posh

Well I personally am not offended by it, very little offends me. My objection is the fact that if his choice of comment was to say 'oh, that's black' then it would not be acceptable at all - whether that's right or wrong is debatable but as you don't seem to mind your children saying things are 'gay', then you would of course not object to them using the word 'black' in a similar context, I assume?

the word 'gay' has become, at least around here, just another non committal discriptive word.
my son says 'oh damn i forgot to do my gay homework' my other son says ' I don't want beans with my chips today cos theyre so gay', I say ' oh I forgot to get milk when I was out' and they will say 'Oh mum you are so gay!' At no time does it ever seem to be in its homosexual sense, it just seems to be the latest 'fashionable' word.

Well for a so called tolerant society, it's hardy the most appropriate fashionable word - there are a million other words that can be used!!!

Yes - he did say it

Yes - it is common usage in the kind of circles which Timmy probably moves in

No - it isn't acceptable

Yes - it would have made me despise him even more were that possible.

i agree totally, i hope its soon replaced with something else, probably just a passing fad

when I was a teenager the 'in words' were 'spastic', and 'puff'... and they may have been used with a laff, but certainly 'spastic' would today be a big no no! (curiously, another fad word this year is 'gimp' which means to limp or a person who limps... go figure that one?)

next years word will probably be Tim

'i'm sorry about that gentleman,i'm such a Tim.'

Yeah, some very bad memories there!!! What was the name of that disabled guy who had that TV programme about him in the 80's? - I'm pretty sure his name was used as derogatory comment too.

I'm really not too plussed about whether the use of any word is lighthearted or not, it's the actual words that are used that are not acceptable.

why so obsessed with the word 'black'? you have to bring in to any thread that mentions 'gay'!

fact is that 'black' is a visible 'difference' to the 'norm'- it cannot be concealed, however 'gay' can be 'invisible' difference that can be concealed should one wish.

2 seperate levels of 'difference'

I suppose if I asked if anyone here who has so far objected to Tim's use of the word 'gay' is in fact themselves gay, I'd just be missing the point really.

Or, at 5'6" and 13 stone, I should maybe be sitting at my bedroom window with a mounted gun, waiting for some passer-by to say 'That is so gross!!'
