SCD in 2006
With the present series now half way through, do any 'insiders' have any word on what will happen to the show in 2006?
Will we have to wait until October for a new series? Will Bruce be signed up for another year? Who can tell us not what they hope will happen, but what they know will happen??? I can't believe the BBC will wait until next July to make a plan... |

I'd like it to go back to 10 couples. It's been a bit mad and crazy! Also, back to when there were only 2 dances per week and it was easier to judge.
No Natasha, please!!!!! She does annoy me......

I was thinking about this last night. I would be so gutted if SCD came to an end. I can't say I've ever felt so passionate about a TV show in all my life (and I do love my telly!).

I should imagine that there's no doubt of another series. It's popular, raises lots of money for charity and the dancers love doing it.
Isn't the time of year it's on entirely dependent on when Children In Need is? |

Can I stick something up a flag pole and see who salutes.
Based on the 'No one should leave' thread and idea, how about making the latter part of the competition a league basis. OK we don't want the likes of Quentin Wilson and Gloria Huniford defiling out tellies each week for 10 weeks, but certainly with the standard this year so obviously improved, maybe instead of dumping a couple each week from the half way stage we have the voting as now BUT the couples get a points score each week, and the couple with the highest score at the end of the run get's the prize (and any lucrative contracts going). OK it would need work and the 'tension' of the 'eviction' would be lost, but it would make it better IMHO. Maybe the scores are rolled over each week and the lowest aggregate score goes out... That might work. Just an idea. |

Bruce doesn't half get on my nerves, but I can't think of anyone else that could do it. It bothers me how he hurries the judges along then blabbers on for ages himself. I love Tess though, she's fabulous!! Vernon needs to be a contestant next year!!! Mwahah!

She knows she's on to a good thing presenting SCD and she does it really well. It's a coveted job and she'd do well to hang on to it for dear life...

I'm pretty sure the BBC will commission a 4th series for October 2006.
The only real question to which i would not be so certain is whether Brucie will return or not. I hope he does but i think he's been saying to himself 'right, last one' ever since the first series but is simply so in love with doing the programme that he can't let go. I hope he is willing and able to do the 4th series - regardless of what some people say, the show just wouldn't be the same without him. That aside, i do worry the BBC are coming all too close to doing this dancing business to death. I've said it before but i really think we would be better off without a second series of Strictly Dance Fever in the spring. Genre fatigue is all too real a threat. There was absolutely no need for the dreadful (both in idea and production) Strictly African Dancing, and Strictly Ice Dancing was at best a nice if wholly unnecessary addition to the franchise. Last year's Xmas Special was alright if not also a bit more than was required. This year's Xmas Special, i think, is a step too far. By then we will have had an excellent and exhausting 10 week series with the grand final just before Xmas being a nice time to round it off. Its a case of diminishing returns with these spin-off shows. By the way, what do we make of ITV's Dancing On Ice that is due to start in 2006? Needless to say, a pathetic copy cat attempt to get in on the act. Tacky, i'm sure. Again tho, its MORE dancing for the viweing public to begin to get fed up of. |

10 couples but with no one leaving for two weeks. They need to get their public dancing shoes on.

Insider information
Thanks, guys, for all the replies so far - and as ever Trem Two gets it absolutely right as far as I'm concerned - but I don't sense that we've got real inside information up here yet. There must be someone from the show who sees this site!!!
