Has anyone else noticed just what an awful hovel this place is?

It looks just like plates of food or something have been thrown about, leaving run stains all down the walls.

Maybe my mind is playing tricks, but it didn't always look that bad did it?

I vaguely remember reading that they were making some changes to the sets to make them fit the characters better and I think one of the examples was making the Battersby-Brown house look even messier than it had been earlier.

I've been thinking that for a while now, especially with the marks on the walls and kitchen door. Was there some kind of fire or something that left those marks?

Remember when Les & Cilla had the big bath upstairs & it fell down through the floor - well the stains were caused by this. See this wks inside soap for more details.

It does look terrible but it's realistic that Les would not have had the interest or money to redecorate after the 'flood'.

When was there a fire bonze?
I thought it was just the shop and Sally's place that were fire damaged?

You're right - it was the Websters that got smoke damage.
For some reason I thought the Battersbys had tried to claim for 'compo' before the flood damage

Maybe you were thinking of how they got the council to repair the ceiling/floor after the bath crashed through it? Les and Charlie persuaded the council the floor was rotten (hid the bath in the yard) so the council would pay for the work. But they didn't pay for the decorating apparently!

If the Council took responsibility for the damge, surely they would have had to redecorate as well.
