Well done Star. I've put this on other threads but am putting it here anyway because I'm feeling self-indulgent.

Guys, I've decided not to do it. I've spent all day on the phone with the girl at the BBC, giving names and telling her about my room in Cambridge in case they want to use it. Finally she said they'd decided on an undisclosed location in London, as opposed to Cambridge and I said yeah - great pick me up and I'll do it.

Then she asked me for a friend or family member to call her and confirm that I am who I sam I am for legal reasons. So I called my little sister and we chatted about it and she made me see sense that if I go and waste half a day in London, I'll regret it for the rest of my life if I fail my exams, and that Medicine will affect the rest of my life whereas this is just a fantastic bit of fun. She didn't put it as harshly as that because she is a darling of a person and the best sister a girl could have but I think she made me see sense a bit. I'm now feeling very sad and it was an incredibly tough decision to make so I called the BBC back and left a message on the girl's answer-machine apologising for wasting her time and letting her down at the last minute. I feel awful. I was so looking forward to it.

Please everyone that does go on, make the most of it for the rest of us and try to get some of our phrases in. It might make up for not being there, and I'll probably get in on Monday evening feeling bad about screwing up my first exam so I'll need cheering up.

I wish the ITT production team would take pity on me and invite me to the Final after my exams, but I felt too shy to ask them that on the phone after dropping them in it at such late notice.

I do remember her saying they had someone from Edinburgh, Essex and Durham (so I think, that's startwirler, someone else, and Peach), Now there's a spot available for someone else to enjoy!

Sorry for long post xx

happyfeet, don't feel bad about letting them down, you haven't let anyone down. Your sister sounds terribley sensible, how old is she?

I have been thinking about this all day!
V. v. v. excited!

Little old me, on the box. What a thought.

Good luck, guys! Let's hope that we get through!

P.S. If I'm online if they ring, will they email or call my mobile? If not I'm coming offline NOW!

Linoleic, I'm sure if they need you they'll try all your contact numbers.

All of you thanks for being nice about it. My little sister is 19, and normally we're both very sensible about things like this, although she can be as random and obsessive as me I'm glad I talked to her about it, she was good at gently bringing me to my senses.

I couldn't do it as it's my Christmas night out with my closest friends tomorrow night. They are the best friends in the world and I'm always cancelling on them and stuff because my work schedule can sometimes be horrendous and unpredictable and they don't complain and completely understand. I might, however, lose them forever if I bottled out of our annual Night Out because of a reality tv show.

If ever I need surgery, I'll come to you, knowing that you would put your medicine career before even SCD!

I'm sure you've made the right decision happyfeet, and you've been very instrumental in getting those who do it on screen, so you can watch with beaming pride as I'm sure they'll be brilliant.

P.S. Fancy moving to North London when you're qualified, as you sound like exactly the type of Dr I'd want to see

Aww I have lots of friends in London medical schools and they are marvellous wonderful people, you'll be in safe hands over the next few years I'm sure. But when I'm a GP in 6 years or so, then you can all come register with me at my practice I can look after you all and prescribe Ballroom dancing lessons to people feeling down

We'll definitely know by the bewitching hour tonight, who is on the panel and where it will be

Ah you're not butting in. I have no idea about when they're going to tell people but I think the three definites and me were told earlier in the day. They're all running around like mad things getting tonight's show ready at the moment I imagine, so perhaps if you're not contacted by late this evening, I'd just expect to not be on.

Star, I think xadie was the other FP from Scotland who decided not to do it but that was for other reasons, not just the location thing. Anyway, they have all the names now and they can decide who they think is easiest to get to London compared with Essex, Durham and Edinburgh.

Oh and if imagined Anton at my desk in my exams, I'd find it awfully hard to concentrate but yeah, it might be a good calming technique if I find myself panicking You're all darling darling sweethearts and I can't wait to see you on Monday - you do realise you're sharing the screen with Patrick Swayze!! He's on the show on Monday

My, everyone is being so lovely. I really must insist you all stop. I'm sure there are people reading these threads getting fed up of seeing 'happyfeet' all over the place.
