Error Message on Panasonic DMR - EH50.

Bought the device recently and had it delivered on Saturday. I was enjoying it immensely but today I am experiencing an error message and it doesn't look good.

I put in a DVD-r disc in, which has worked on other machines, and it was reading the disc. Then it went like on standby mode and has a message "U99".

I read the instructions, which basically said the unit fails to operate properly and did, as said in the intruction, but the machine on standby (using the button on the unit) and switch it on again (using the same button). It says "Hello" then "Self check", then "U99" again. I have tried it 10 times and it is still doing the same.

If there was a problem with the disc, cannot imagine there being mind, it is still a problem because I cannot eject the disc.

Any ideas? Does it mean a quick return, of course it is well under guarentee - but still annoying.

Try unpluging from mains. When you plug back in press the eject button. I would dump that disc. Great machine but can be a bit pcky.

Just tried that, I cannot get the disc to eject.

I don't want to get the screwdriver out, but how can I manually get the "dodgy" disc out?

Sorry it didn't work. I have come across this a few times but managed to get the disc out, even though it was a little more stubborn at times. I remember when I first came across a mag review of this model they came across same problem during the review. Can't remember what the outcome was but I'll let you know if I still have the mag. Any way, best of luck.

I have managed to get it out. Panasonic e-mailed me a way to get it out with it in standby mode (press eject and ch^ at the same time on the main unit).

Machine seems to be back to normal now.

Thanks anyway.
