I'm thinking of getting a Home Theatre system to go with my KDL-V32A12. I don't want DVD included as I'd prefer to kepp that seperate. Has anyone got experience of the Sony HT-SS600?

Also, anyone know of some good speaker stands?

Got mine working with a Sony HXD710 and it works really well . Tuner FM reception very clear.

I have also used the other inputs to connect a Panasonic Multi disk CD player, a record deck (needed a pre amp for that) and a tape casette deck (its an old friend and I still have a few tapes I have not replaced by more modern media)

I had to extend the speaker cables but that is not hard the manual even tells you how to replace the cable at the plugs that go into the back of the unit.

I think there is a learning curve as to the best settings to use (the preset concert, jazz club etc make for fun when playing back cd's) - all in all for the price a great little unit

I have just bought the Sony HT-DDW870 Home Cinema System from Pixmania, it's a 6.1 system and i am VERY impressed with it! You should take a look at it:

I was thinking about getting one of those systems.
If you don't mind I have a couple of questions.
I was hoping to connect my Xbox, panny DMR HS2 and I guess eventually my sky box. (when I get one with an optical out)

I'm right in thinking that it has 2 optical inputs and some sort of other digital input, it looked like an orange single phono plug.
What's the single orange plug called?

Are both of you happy with the sound from each of your systems? I'm by no means an audiophile and have never bought sound equipment for more that £500. Does the sound you get really enhance watching DVD's.
Is it going to scare the crap out of my 2year old when she is watching Monsters Inc. I want it to!

Many thanks

The HT-DDW870 greatly enhances DVD playback, the sound is CRYSTAL clear with excellent bass production. Even when you play CD's the sound you get is excellent. It will scare your daughter! Haha! It shakes the floor if you turn it up too!

It has 2 optical digital inputs and one coax input which is for your dvd player. So 3 digital inputs, you're right. In total, it has 9 inputs. You could connect all your items above, plus more. It's worth saying the only Sky Digital boxes with Optical Outs are the Sky+ Boxes and the soon to be released HDTV boxes.

You can download the manual for this system from Sony's website: http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/2549734151.pdf

There have been a lot of complaints (mostly last year when they were changing warehouse).

I ordered on the Thursday and it arrived on the Tuesday. It comes from France, because they are a European seller, they come with Euro plugs but they send you the adapters. I was very pleased witht the service.

If you want it from a UK seller then check out Be Direct where it isnt that much dearer:
