I will say that I don't think anyone has said that people cannot post anything...just not be personal...but maybe even that is being to dictorial. I just hate all the fights on the other forums.

I feel I started all this in the first place. I don't think I am a horrible person but I certainly feel like one now.

In fact I think the only banishing that is going to happen is the one I am going to be doing to myself for a few days.

Happy and Boho, thank you for your kind and considered responses .. Crystal .. you've hit the nail right on the head. I have no problem whatsoever with the fluffy thread or with people enjoying themselves in a little harmless and fun fantasy ... up to and including 'in' jokes and phrases ... if it remains contained within its own space and doesn't spill over into every thread on the forum. That way, if I personally don't like it, I don't have to read it.
The point I was trying to make was that when I had my upsetting day, I felt that I was put in the invidious position of either trying to defend myself on two fronts - or leaving the forum .. so I chose the latter.
As for posting again .. yes .. I do miss having a bit of a rant or sharing my delight in my faves .. but trust is like virginity .. you can only lose it once, and (I'm probably overstressing my paranoia here), I feel my views would be very watered down and constricted due to fear of backlash.

I am ever so glad I put up this thread now. It's hard to know when you're straying a bit if all you ever get is positive feedback from others, I suppose that, in essence is your point. How can we function as a community discussing things if there is no room for a for/against opinion? I personally must say that I haven't seen many examples of this perceived censorship outright, but I do concede that the general atmosphere of the Forum may be acting as an unwitting censor. I can't change the general atmosphere. It involves too many people. It can only be changed by you guys staying on here and making your points in the reasonable and calm way you have done on this thread, and not worrying about 'being banished' - no such thing would happen. Initally people may be defensive (as ironically I appear to be here ), but they'll take what you say on board. And those who don't, well that just makes them stubborn.

I have never felt threatened by anyone's comments on here. And I do hope that now and in the past, if anything has come up, instead of sweeping it under the carpet, I have responded in a diplomatic way trying to acknowledge eash party's opinion.

I do go off on random flights of fancy but have kept these, for the most part, in their places and tried to not mix them up with my considered opinions on various topics. I obviously cannot speak for everyone, and I do see that there a lot of wonderful people on here that say nice things to me/about me. I have not asked for this response but am obviously touched that people I don't even know can say such nice things. My aim on this board was not to make everyone like me. It was to be myself, have fun, make some people laugh, and express my opinion about things related to SCD.

I have apologised in the above posts, because no matter what I say, I cannot be entirely blameless. I am also sorry that such a situation has arised where some people aren't happy. Equally, you can't make everyone happy all the time. I will continue as I am and stay true to my own way of conducting myself and hope that everyone else here does too.

Boho, I think you have to remember that you can't please all of the people all of the time - but you have pleased an awful lot of them on here. We love you - enjoy your break and come back refreshed.

Do you know, if people don't like pink and fluffy then, heck, there's no obligation for them to join in. They don't have the right to stop anyone else having a pink and fluffy corner if they so wish. The board is big enough to have all sorts of little havens to appeal to different people. This is an inclusive and generally happy community, as a number of people have said.

Just because a few people disagree with that sentiment doesn't mean that they are right, nor does it say that anyone is right for that matter. There is room for everybody here.

I have read through all the posts made here since I was last around, and you all make good valid points and there's not much to add except my own apology for anything I may have said or done to contribute to any bad feeling.

I hope once the dust has settled everyone will once again feel comfortable posting on here.

Having missed last night's show (family crisis aaaah) I have been scurrying around trying to catch up on latest happenings, and was struck by this excellent thread. I so totally agree with the sentiment. I'm often shocked by the vitriolic comments posted by so-called fans of the show..surely we can think of smarter, less offensive ways of putting our points across? I'm still recovering from the shock of hearing that my favourites - Bill & Karen - are no longer to light up our screens on Saturday nights but that doens't mean I'd resort to making offensive comments about other couples who perhaps (IMHO) should have gone before B&K...so well done Happy for starting this thread...I have to say that this board puts a big smile on my face every day (and I'm not some saddo with an empty life...but I do love reading the informed, funny and feel-good comments from so many devoted fans of a great show!) xx

the Lady Boz is at odds as to how anyone can be upset by anything you say. Your our champion!! You are always articulate and to the point in what you say and The Lady Boz will come to your defence any chance, sword and shield in hand and obviously mounted on a beautiful white charger.

But all you posters out there, when you feel upset, don't write about hating people as we have read. Hate is a wasted emotion. Support someone else if you can find it in your heart and remember first and foremost, this show is for charity and a bl**dy good one at that. CIN spend every penny we send on children and we can't ask for more than that and can't think of any other charity that does.

Let us know when you are upset about your favourite losing and we will come with hankies and kind words to soothe. Some always has to lose that what a competion is about. We all know that sometimes it feels a little unfair when our fav's go but keep dialling in for your fav as so much is going to charity. The Lady Boz would love to know how much is raised by the viewers as this show is so popular.

This forum is truly about free speech and if you want to post or not into a pink and fluffy thread, so be it! Pop and ask if we are real people, its always amazes the Lady Boz where people get their imaginations from. The Lady Boz is still a newbie and has only been posting for about a month but still feels quite at home. She never though in her wildest dreams that she would have the honour of joining the forum panel.

Nothing wrong with a bit of fluff - but could we keep it in just two or three threads please - all this gushing about your favourite Dancers is a little OTT imho. I couldn't give a monkeys what colour trousers Anton might wear or how many cars James has got , nothing wrong with you fans being interested - just please Not in every thread on the forum, some of us on here are just interested in the dancing ability or the lack of it as the case may be.Thanks-I feel better for that.

On a more serious note though - these forums do have to have some edge I suppose is the word, thats what makes discussion a discussion - an exchange of views. I think its all about maintaining civility and a degree of friendliness where possible when putting forward those differing views. I think we are all - or at least the vast majority - united in enjoying dance. THAT is what i watch SCD for - the dance, the spectacle.

Life would be dull if we all liked the same things, and I will always say what I think - but I do hope not to cause offence when I do so, and as someone that has just braved the threads here, you will be hearing my opinions ad nauseam but you don't have to read them - sometimes its adviseable not to.

I'm a "newer" person on this board and while i can see there are strong friendships here i do not feel there are cliques as i have been made to feel entierly welcome. sposter there are not one group of people asking everyone to be nice, its the majority of people on this forum, express your opinions as much as you want but nearly everyone else can manage to do so with out treading on peoples toes so why can't everyone?

I have been pointed out as someone who has posted nastly yesterday because i was having a tantrum, i have seen that it was whole unfair and have apologised for my bad behaviour so i am not bias towards either side here. but it would be lovely to have a nice forum

Just for the record, I have not been offended by anyone, I do not blame anyone, I have not wanted anyone to feel responsible or to have to make abject apologies or take threads off the board. I just wanted to applaud and bring back some of the edgier posters and express an opinion that was not coated in candyfloss. I am not sure that I am on any side except the side that loves this forum.

Maybe we all (including me) need to stop being so sensitive and reading more into things than are there. There really is room for us all.

Please lets not turn this place into other forums, we are all so nice to each other here. Long may it continue.

Well. as I seem to be "the old hag" who's been on DS for aeons, can I just stick my twopennorth in?

I used to post vociferously on both the BB and FA forums, as well as GD. I barely visit them now, let alone post. (As for the Politics forum I wouldn't even click on it now)

And you know why? Because they descended into petty, nasty, spiteful vitriol. Almost like anyone who was "nice" about a contestant or a topic that went against the forum ethos had to be bullied into accepting that they were a moron.

I can see the point of view of all points raised in this thread. ( I lost my temper on here once, as I was so mad at being told where and what I should post). But generally, I'm in synch with happyfeets' OP.

I love this forum, not just because of the show, but because of the tone. It isn't full of childish insults, Posse members (gawd protect me from the ilk of the C4 boards ) or outright bullying. It's a rarity to find forums that dont descend into bitching, despite the Mods work (Beth is sorely missed )

So let's debate, have differing opinions etc etc, but keep it as friendly as possible. I think we're doing just fine most of the time.

Hi, I have finally caught up and now know what all the fuss has been about. Truly I really dont know what to say. (But will say I had no idea about this thread when I started the message from start one to apologies for that)

But I think this has gone way too far down hill, no one should be getting upset, apologising when they've done notihing wrong, removing thread's or whatever. There is no clique on here just a bunch of people who love this show and enjoy talking about it, sharing their madnesses and having fun. Everyone is entitled to and should express their opinion, the point that is being made is that this can been done with out stooping to the level of rudeness or nastiness. This is always such a fun place to be and a lot of that has to do with the fact that the show is such fun and entertaining to watch and the people on it too.

Obviously there is a great mix of people on here, all of whom are extremely welcome, everyones opinon is valued, and no one is the boss or trying to be the boss. Certainly not me (insanity is my middle name)

I think Im waffling now, and no idea how to finish this,
but can we just try and get back on an even keel.
