Showtime Traditions
Maddi
26-11-2005
I have searched for a similar thread and hope that I am not repeating a previous one.

What does everyone do to get prepared for the saturday night show? Have you 'traditions'? What do you have going on at the same time? Are there people you ring to dicuss it with? Do you stay on here until moments before it starts and get back on here the minute it finishes?

My girlie friends and I are being another alternative 'alternative panel' this evening.

I have just come back to the PC having spent the last five minutes crushing ice for pre-show margeuritas. We have scoring paddles, party food and the consumption of alcohol in significant quantities to look forward to.

Following the main show and the results show, there is the obligatory call to my parents to post mortem the whole shebang.

What about the rest of you - how do you 'do' Strictly Come Dancing?

Packet of biscuits. Bottle of Martini Rosso. A running telephone/MSN conference with my best friend and fellow Strictly addict in St Andrews. It's good times.

Maddi, that sounds like real fun. Have a great evening.

I'm missing the show tonight as I have to go out so will be watching the video later all on my own, though I might get my cats to join me in doing a bit of voting.

PS have you checked out the post by happyfeet HERE for some ideas for SCD cocktails.

Hahahahaha. I imagined allybee delivering her post in a David Brent stylee.
Maddi, I'm loving your style. Trust me if I could, I'd be doing that every week. But i'm stuck alone in my room, so I do my cramming, then chat to peeps on here till just before the show, and then will do more work after it finishes then pop back after 11 when it's calmed down a bit

I have a routine that I have to stick by - an early dinner about 5pm, then back in front of pc and tv to drool over James Martin

I get home from work as quickly as possible - often swearing at the football traffic, if there's been a match on!

Maddi...sounds brill! I have to watch all on my own as my OH doesn't really get SCD. But I ring my mum and sister up all night and we chat about it.

I laze about on Saturdays as OH is at footie, and get the tea ready, etc, etc. Then by the time it starts..I am onton the wine, and if OH makes a noise he gets barked at!

Sadly the last few weeks, as I also watch the X factor (but prefer SCD) I have had to tape SCD and watch after thanks to those bloomin time clashes...but actually I prefer that a bit, as I can rewatch the dances I love.

That is why I am sometimes a bit late getting on here on a saturday evening (that and the fact I passed out last week at 10pm after the dodgy glass of wine! )

just like boho i watch scd alone..as O/H doesn't do the dance thang.....ocasionally i am joined by my cat who likes to get in the way of the screen just as the dances start and my german shepherd dog decides that he can't get close enough to the telly, cos he loves all of the movement and the swirly dresses! so what with kitty Isis and puppy Captain, it's a wonder i get to see anything at all..and as for taping, my VH recorder died on me and i have a new recordable dvd player that has more brains than i do..and isn't afraid to show it.....

Going out?! Since this series of SCD started, I've forgotten what going out on a Saturday is! lol I'm completely obsessed with the show...or to be more precise, with Darren G, but thats another thread!

Yeah, family obligations I'm afraid. But I have kept 17th clear. There's no way I am leaving the house and relying on a video for that one!

I watch X-Factor as well as SCD and they're both often on at the same time as dinner. So my showtime tradition involves doing hideously complicated things with videotapes. No matter what happens, though, SCD always gets videoed so I can watch it again should the need arise.

Me and my 9 year old daughter watch together every Saturday and ITT in the week.

We usually eat at 6, but now SCD is on we eat at 5 on a Saturday and then it's everyone infront of the TV with a cup of tea or coffee.
Week days, I'm usually just finishing eating or washing up so watch ITT over my shoulder. That's why I never hear anyone mentioned from here.

As it's semi final night I thought I would resurect this thread. What's everyone's plans for the semis then? Sadly mine isn't very exciting (which is why I hope to live vicariously through you all - as the saying goes). None of my mates watch SCD so it'll be night in with wine and junk food, then on here to talk nonsense into the wee small hours no doubt.

How about the rest of you?
