Could it all be down to "looks" at the end of the day....

I was wondering ..have we become a society that rates people only on their attractiveness??? So may people are throwing comments about some Hm's physical appearances as if that matters a great deal ?
Would Alex be so popular if he was overweight and unattractive and displayed his moans ....
Would Jade be so demonised if she looked as attractive as Kate .....
Would jonny have so much hate of he was a stunning looking guy ??
A study was done with schoolchildren asking them their thoughts just on photos of people ....the most disliked child was the overweight one because the children percieved them as "lazy" .."nasty" ect ect ...without ever having met them ...

I dont know about racism or class...I think being unnatractive is becoming a disadvantage more than ever in todays society and I think thats reflected by our attitude to some of the housemates ....maybe I'm wrong ...any thought s??

Lots of studies have been done on this type of thing. But am too hot to type much about it but

Its also been found taller men are found to be more responsible, intelligent and trustworthy, by both men and women.

On the female side I think that could be about chosing a 'good' partner to have children with ....

Don't know why men should feel the same way tho'

I dont find any of the hm's particularly attractive, not even Kate (yes - as a woman I can find other women attractive) and watching her eat (sorry to get silly and personal) puts me off food completely.

LK - who now hides in the cupboard under the stairs in case I eat the same way

I think you've made a good point there, we do have a tendencey in our society to assume that beacause somebody looks nice they are nice. I like alex and agree he looks good but I tried to form an opinion based on his personality. ( I must admit that I assumed he would be incredibly vain).

I think you're spot on in how most people are judging the housemates, which is a sad reflection on society I fear.

Alex I think would have hardly any of the fans he currently has without his looks, I'm sure of it.

Jade I think would be hated at least as much but for some different reasons if she was attractive...she'd be hated for her personality as now, but she'd also be hated by a different group for being good looking!

Jonny I think would be more popular with some if he was attractive, but he'd still have many critics I think.

Kate...not sure...she's definately not ugly now, but she's not everyones cup of tea I guess...then no one is are they? I think she was judged harshly early on because she was seen as good looking and very flirty, playing on her looks...but I've not read many people critisising her for that here for a while so I'm not sure what difference her looks are making now?

Tim...really more a matter of percived "class" I guess rather than looks...he strikes me as arrogant and with a superior attitude which I find offensive - and yet the same things in PJ I found amusing and acceptable....which I know betrays my own prejudices and that's the whole thing I like about BB...forcing me to question my own reactions to the housemates...
