Croquet tic-tacs....

Anyone else here play croquet much? Anyone want to wipe the smug look off Tim's face and show him how tactical the game can REALLY be?

All the people in the house (including Alex and Tim who have both said really arrogant things about how they'd beat everyone at the game) show a very niave level of tactics to me!

We've been playing the game at work in lunch times for a number of years in the summer and have evolved the tactics to such an extent that these guys seem way too nice

Of course, it gets better when you have 2 teams of 2 people and can act as a team to both get each other round and mess up the other team, but even in a 1 on 1 game they're missing so many obvious ways to do better.

...and anyone that thinks croquet is a dull game should try it...it's a combination of giant snooker, chess, and golf....when they've mastered the deliberate jump shot through a hoop to avoid putting the opponant through then I might think they're getting somewhere

I'd love to try a shot up that slopped bank and back down to try and get through a hoop from the wrong side too...now who's being arrogant?

I must admit I missed how they got this.. how long will they have it for? I'd never seen it played before tbh, until I was flicking channels at 3am in the morning and saw Kate/Jonny playing..

It was yet another interesting task set by big brother. Alex collected the instructions from the diary room - he told Jonny, Kate and Jade who were in the swimming pool at the time that BB had instructed them to clean the pool.

Alex forgot to mention to them - there was a reward.

He therefore cleaned the pool himself (much later) as none of the others had bothered.

Hence the reward of the croquet - I don't know how long they can have it for but rules can be found:

cheers for the link to "the rules"...we have to play "local rules" because of the area we play in not really being big enough for the official rules to work, and because we've invented a few novel twists which add a little extra challenge

Fair enough, but it's bloody dull to watch, and even worse when you have to describe it for over half an hour.

'Roquet red' indeed...

actually, sad maybe but I found it good viewing...if only to laugh at their terrible shot choices...
