Hollyoakes drink spiking story line.Opinions please......
Hello all
I would just like to congratulate Holloyoakes on such a well written story line! I think Hollyoakes does get a bit of stick for risky stories etc but i think the way that they are handling the drink spiking story line is brilliant! I don't think any other soap would dare to take this on. They have showed the dangers of leaving your drinks unattended and how easy it is to be 'spiked' I think that as the soap has many younger viewers it points out the dangers to them in a way nothing else would. Some people seem to dismiss things like this far too easily, believing 'it will not happen to me' so this points out that it can hapen to anybody. So well done hollyoakes! Just tought i would air my views and see what everybody else thinks

I am glad they are doing it. A few years ago one of my friends had her drink spiked. She's no light weight when it comes to drinking by any means but but I remember this particular evening after about a pint she was all over the place and just wanted to lay down and sleep. Luckily we realised something was amiss and took her home. She was the sort of person who was in the habit of leaving her drink unattended etc and things could have ended much worse. Up until that point I hadn't really thought about the dangers of leaving your drink unattended whilst you go to the loo or anything, but after that we were all on guard. This is one of the reasons I love Hollyoaks it covers issues people might not always think about.

They are doing a great job of the spiking storyline, I really hope it makes people think again in bars.
I am thouroghly enjoying it, I just hope Andy gets his comeuppance and Dannii and russ can sort it out. On that note do you think they will have Russ being understanding about it? As I would be concerned if he hated Dannii, it may make some girls not report it. Finding it hard to deal with though would be right. |

We've talked a lot about this on the Hollyoaks thread (not the Justin one). Basically the general opinion is appalled at the two characters. Sam is getting most of the flak as he knows it is wrong and is still doing it. Good date rape strip awarenesss though.

I'm fairly sure Brookside did a 'date rape' storyline involving Nikki Shadwick.

what can they do with Sam after this though? Will he leave do you think? I can't see him getting away with it and regaining people's trust, it's an awful thing to do.

I am glad too that Hollyoaks are doing this drug rape storyline to raise awareness of drug rape. There are so many young people out thee who dont realise the dangers of drug rape thats why this issue should be brought up alot to make young people aware not to leave their drinks unattended. Quote:

i think this is a great story line! i've never realy thought about people spiking drinks while they are unnatended, it's realy opened my eyes about it. But i hope Andy and Sam pay for what they've done, or guys may think that they can get away with spiking drinks.

The good thing also about this storyline is that Louise is involved - and i think it also connects with her past - its makes you wonder

Andy and Sam are going to have to pay for this disgusting thing which they did... and I don't think anyone will ever properly trust Sam. I feel most sorry for his family.
Is it the twins that get raped? |

Spoiler
However, Sam is still going to be in big trouble. He is a knowing accessory and by not stopping Andy he will probably be charged by the police. |

i think the storyline is fantastic. i've been a hollyoaks viewer since 1999 and i feel around 2003/04 it started to loose the plot but ever since the ali/juctin/macki storyline it has been very interesting with lots of gritty things going on all at the same time. it still gets stick but it always has done, even back in its glory days. apparently andy is pushed off a roof by russ over new year but his body is not found and he vanishes. i think if he returned like rob hawthorne it would be brilliant! hollyoaks are onto a winner with this one!
