Can't keep Corrie down for long
After several threads over the summer complaining about how rubbish Coronation Street was I thought I would start a thread to mark them returning to form this week.
As unnecessary as the extra episodes were I think they did a really good job. Admittedly the summer stories have been a bit ropey but they have no way had the worst year ever as someone on another thread is suggesting. Nevertheless, recently the acting has been superb with much more interesting stories and the funny bits were actually funny. Loved the scene with Sally putting an end to Rosie's protest in front of the butchers. Violet / Sarah / Jason story was well acted by everyone involved. Sunita is doing a good job despite the fairly OTT story. But as I have said before OTT is better than drab. I think the viewing figures show that they are still doing well. |

Coronation Street hasn't been it's best admittedly, but it hasn't been too bad, and still watchable. But I agree this week was much better quality than previous weeks, and I have high hopes for coming episodes. I hope that Steve Frost can also work his magic on the show and rejuvenate, Tony Wood did a lot of great stuff for Coronation Street, but I think this year the show has relied on comedy too much. I love Coronation Street, and I hope that it is back on track.

I have faith in Steve Frost alongside Keiron Roberts as exec prod. Keiron did wonders in 2002/3 and Steve also shone for Emmerdale

Just to get this back on track what did you think of the quality of the show lately?

Quality has definetly gone up, from the past 2 weeks its been really enjoyable and worth watching. Loved Sunita/Dev story, Jason/Sarah/Voilet story, The pig story and Sally's been sensational to watch as well as the Baldwins and Carol.

But in general it's not the best it could be.. But it get's away with it. You never really see the press slagging it off. Becuase it's 'too good.' There is some room for inprovement.
