Dead Famous- anyone read it?
selene_silver

Dead Famous is Ben Elton's latest book about a murder in a Big Brother type house, very witty (as all his books are) and sees straight to the heart of what Big Brother is actually about with a cynics eyes. Its very very good, you dont find out who is actually murdered for quite a while nor the culprit til the end. It is easy to see which characters have been based on who: theres a gentle irish girl, a cockney geezah who was on drugs til his child was born, a hippy girl...very amusing.
I highly recommend it to any Big Brother fans who dont mind the whole "sociological experiment" been exposed in a totally different light!

I read that recently! Really enjoyed it, thought it was funny and it was very interesting to see how the producer manipulated the way the HMs were viewed, the way some forum members accuse C4 of doing! Agree about the HMs being based on real HMs too - didn't Dervla even have the same surname as Anna from BB1?

Haven't read it Sel .. but will get it next time I am in a bookshop!
I love it when people recommend good books.

Have read thousands of books, new ones, second hand ones, library ones (yes libraries still exist these days!).

I love that 'new book' smell - especially if it's a hard back, and the joy of turning over new clean pages

There was a post on here about this book ages ago which prompted me to go and read it. I found the whole editing thing to be very true to what they are doing on real life BB. So yeah - if anyone wants to read it it comes highly recommended

I find the Inspector reminding me of my dad, who still refuses to have anything to do wth Big Brother and denies even knowing their names...

I've just started it.
I work in a bookshop so I tend to overspend on the things! In fact most of my wages seem to go straight back in the till!

Ottakars (where I am) has it in the 2 for £10 promo, get it with Atonement by ian Mcewan which is also VVVVV good.

Book review over

PS Has anyone actually bought the BB book yet? and exactly why is out before the series has ended this time? surely they could have done the same as last year and wait, it seemed to sell OK then?
