After trawling through zillions of "I hate Jonny" threads and "I hate Alex" threads, there seems to be two camps here - those who hate Jonny, and those who hate Alex, both camps trying to outshout the other, and resorting to insulting other people's point of view. I'm wondering if anyone feels the same way I do.

Because guess what? I like them both!

Just Alex here as well. I find Johnny to be quite fake, mainly becuase of his personality transformation during the first few weeks, the one thing I do like and respect about Johnny is his job.

I don't particularly like either of them but I dislike Jonny a lot more than I dislike Alex. I have a lot of sympathy with Alex's complaints about peeing in the shower and on the toilet seat. It is disgusting, it's nothing to be proud of and it shows a lot of disrespect for others. Other than that Alex seems a bit lacklustre. Jonny however has no respect for anyone as he has shown by the toilet incidents and more dangerously by removing Jades bikini bottoms against her will in the pool. He obviously doesn't think no means no so how far would he go?? And yes, Jade could show her disapproval by nominating him but that's hardly the point when she said no he should have stopped, I notice it wasn't Kate's bottoms he removed!!

I can't say I don't like Jonny... I have nothing against the man. I don't know him personally. However I seem recall BB Production Team saying before the show, that this year’s BB will not accept 'wannabes' - and as it turned out Jonny is just the one.
I also find it very amusing fact that a lot of people play 'Jonny the fireman' card all the time - if he loves his job so much, what on earth is he doing on a TV show? Had he stuck to his job - I would respect him much more....

I'd say Alex is the much more interesting character of them two.

Choice based NOT on like/dislike.... but on: who's more interesting as a personality - and Alex wins hands down in that department.

I don't like either one of them to be very truthful (that goes for most of the HM's). But if I was going to entertain one them to being the winner of BB3 then it would have to be Alex because in my opinion he has been very funny. Whereas Jonny I found him to be a sort of Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde character, I don't find his humour to be very laughable. I don't know if it is the house or what and perhaps in normal circumstances they might be more likeable.

I agree with you Little Ali, Alex and Jonny together with Kate have entertained me the most. I'm the first to admit that they all have their faults, as most of us do.

I know its a popularity contest but can't understand the necessity of some forum members to constantly snipe at their favourites competitors.

Do they really believe the huge numbers who watch and vote are going to be swayed by their guile.

There's nothing wrong with a little bashing, long as it goes a little deeper than "Alex is boring" or "Jonny is fake" then it makes for entertaining reading, methinks.

The fan base of both is largely mutually exclusive of the other [you like one or the other, but not both] .. the same with the two housemates themselves; Jonny having little time for Alex and Alex little time for Jonny; .. did you hear Jonny taking the micky out of Alex’s voice for the umpteenth time yesterday (during the late night croquet session) .. there is a lot of angst between the two, and it looks like its rubbing off on some of the hardcore Jonny fans..

Alex [to hopefully win].. and Jonny to go back into his nictotine shell..

I find Alex the more interesting character of the 2. He is quite knowledgeable about many things, is funny and has much more depth to his character than any of the other HMs. I wouldn't say that I dislike Jonny but I don't confuse liking to have fun with being funny. He isn't funny but he's alright. I just don't buy into the character that he's trying to play. I don't blame him if he feels that this strategy will help him to win but he doesn't make for interesting viewing especially being morose for 3 weeks.

Yes, interestingly enough they also said they wouldn't take people who 'sang', 'stripped' or said 'pick me' in their application videos. They didn't seem to take their own advice.

I haven't taken to Jonny from day one. Alex I do like as he reminds me of someone I like dearly

I used to like both, but Jonny's krankee style humour, and his belief that if he finds something funny then it MUST be funny is grating on me now.

You are not alone Ali. I rather like both Jonny and Alex.

Admittedly there are times when Jonny's scatological humour or over-robust play fighting and Alex's anal-retentiveness or failure to appreciate the joke when he's the butt get on my wick but basically both seem intelligent, caring and amusing blokes.

I can see how most posters would be drawn to either one or the other but it does seem that having plumped for their favourite most people are then distorting every single thing the other guy says or does - turning them into some heinous hate-figure.

This can't be entirely healthy. I remember even Timmy did something I approved of once. I actually commended him on a MB elsewhere - blowed if I can recall what the heck it was though.

Anyway I wouldn't mind either of them winning although naturally I am supporting the very wonderful Kate.

Yes ... I feel the same too! I like them both very much, but at the same time there are things about both that have annoyed me at various times.

But I would say I equally like Alex, Jonny and Kate for entertainment value.

If pushed to name one for winning, I'd probably go for Alex, purely because he's been so fantastically funny in the Diary Room (that they've bothered to show us), and because he is so fine looking (which is a bit shallow of me I know )

Quoting something here I found elsewhere because its apt (thanks Pat)

It could only be Alex for me, because those 2 are on the opposite ends of the decency spectrum.

Good to know that I'm not entirely alone! Thanks, everyone for not turning this thread into a slanging match. The points made either for or against Jonny and Alex have been sensible points.

Like many have said, both have their bad points, Alex his fussiness and inability to accept jokes about himself, and Jonny's moping around and constant mention of his "poor family". Despite this, I can't find a lot to dislike about either, I'm not a screaming fan of either one, but I find both can be funny and compassionate.

Oh, and just to clarify, I'm backing Kate to win!!

same here, actually its the first time that I can't quite decide who I would like to win. Previous years there has always been one that outshone the others, this time they seem more evenly matched, but yeah I think I would like to see Kate win, but then again I like Alex and his quirks and humour, but then again Johnny is honest and funny....ohhhhhhh I dunno I give up!

i like them both, previously didn't like johnny but i think that was when alison turned him into laugh a minute boy, it didn't suit him. as for alex, well, he's quirky. the i hate posts are just so boring, hate is such a strong term and since no one actually lives with them, how can you feel that strongly?

I wouldn't go as far to say I like either one, but they're about even in terms of who I would back to win...if it wasn't that I want Kate to win.

Alex is way too self absorbed and convinced he always knows the right way to behave for me (too much like myself?)...but he can be funny, as long as the humour is directed at someone other than himself (not like me!).

Jonny is way too self absorbed and convinced he always knows the right way to behave for me (too much like myself again?)...but he can be funny, as long as the humour is directed at something base or silly (er...like me, especially the silly?)

Good points - Alex can have serious conversations, although he does seem to think he knows much more than he actually does about most things he talks about. Jonny can be just the distraction needed to keep one from terminal boredom, but all too often his humour grates now...so, good points nil really?...but both still better than Tim and Jade for me

I LIKE THEM BOTH!!

Although initialliy disliked them both - Jonny was way too much when Alison was in the house and ALex was a whinging prat. However, I now like both of them and my one HUGE dislike is Tim!
