Drme50 Dvd Recorder Not Taping Digital

I have a Panasonic freeview integrated television and also a Panasonic DVD recorder DMRE50. Taping analogue programmes is no problem but when trying to tape digital programmes, if the TV is switched off, on standby, or changed to another channel, the DVD only records the sound and not the picture but digital programmes can be taped if the TV is left on and on the same channel which is taping. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To record from an IDTV it has to be on and on the channel you want to record. It will not record if the TV is switched off or is on a different channel to the one you are wanting to record.

Basically it just treats the TV as an external source.

The only way to do what you want to do is to connect a Freeview box to Scart 2 on your DMRE50 and record from that.

I have a Panasonic TX26LXD500 LCD TV and a DMR-ES10EB DVD recorder with a scart cable from AV4 on the TV to AV1 on the recorder (Q Link). I can select a programme from the TV's EPG and then put both TV and recorder into standby. At the selected time the TV will turn on the recorder and it'll record from the TV's freeview tuner irrespective of the channel in which it was left. BTW the TV doesn't turn on but stays in standby. I think that this only works using Q Link. Obviously if I'm watching the TV then I can only record that same digital channel from the TV.

Check the set up of your scarts. It looks like you may have the input on the DVD set to RGB but not feeding it thru a RGB scart on the TV. The DVD will be recording but when you play it back you will just get the sound. The DVD will record 'Direct' from TV when you press the direct record on the DVD remote, you will have to keep the TV on though and even if you bring up a menu on the tv while it's recording, the DVD willl stop.
