The only way we could tell if the psychologists are making relevant behavioural observations is if they for instance analyse the pictures they drew of the house but the psychologist does not know anything about the person orwho even drew it.
Therefore, we would be able to see that they are saying points that are correct and not lay person beliefs. ”

Hi Lou
As a "lay person" (no offence taken BTW: by the implication that "lay persons" beliefs are necessarily incorrect) I'd like to draw your attention to a couple of things:
a) by "behavioural" I think you mean "personality": Behaviour is a function of Personality and Situation. ( B=f(P,S), as you no doubt know.) The behaviour would be the drawing, the situation would be the DOING of the drawing, and what would "pop out" of the equation (in a perfect world) would be the personality, P. Of course reality is not like that which leads me to point:
b) The chances of a psychologist actually learning very much from a single drawing are next to zero , given that there are so many reasons for a certain drawing looking as it does. Not least of which because of a lack of artistic ability on the part of the person doing the drawing !!!! (eg it would be scary to think what you could "deduce" from my self-portrait, as I can't draw for toffee!)
I think the sideshows are meant to be a bit of light relief and not taken too seriously.
