Over emotional nonsense. What with Karen retiring early to have a child and Bill's foot, it's been one big sympathy vote from beginning to end.

I don't think Karen's choreography can hold a candle to the majority of the other professionals on SCD.

Sorry if I've upset the Bill and Karen fans, but that's the way I see it.

Professional dancing is a tough life.”

True, Pro dancing is tough, BUT this is pro CELEBRITY dancing.

You are entitled to your opinion, it's just wrong... END OF.

I think you've misunderstood the point of a forum; no-one's opinion is wrong, because it differs from your own.

I'm sorry I am trying to add a little humour to my sad and pathetic life now that Bill and Karen have been cruelly discarded from SCD.

BTW you're still wrong......

Bit of a nit pick here, but the thread is about a pro as opposed to a celeb.

No one's opinion's wrong/right. It's an entertainment show, most of the celebs have day jobs and on the whole will have enjoyed the experience. The pros have upped their profile and resurged an interest in dance.

Everyone's a winner.

ps. I still think she'd be a brilliant addition on the judging panel.

Do you know what, that is a wonderful idea. Let's replace Bruno and add in Karen. Much as Bruno is sweet I think I'd rather see Len & Karen battling it out against Craig & Arlene.

Then we get to see Karen EVERY week - even if we don't get to see her dance we get to see her give her opinion and who better to do it than someone with the experience of being in the competition! We need someone like Karen on the judging panel. YES YES YES!

would rather see judges saying like it is than another sweetee like Len on the board

But wouldn't you rather have someone else who knew something more about Ballroom on the panel too? And another female.. it seems a bit of an inbalance at the moment with 3 stage/pop choreographers and 1 ballroom expert. 3 male and 1 female.

I think Len does tell it how it is. He's not soft.

If they were to add another adjudicator to the board then I think it should be an experienced judge who goes out there doing it week in week out there are loads of top women adjudicators who know their stuff and indeed judge the british or the worlds any of them would be great - Karen would be ok but she is not out there judging and would be hard to go from being one of the dancers to judging the dancers.

Len can be soft - he gave zoe a 10 whilst dancing with huge gap and said it didnt matter!!!!
PeachUK
28-11-2005
Ok.. you are right about the 10 with Zoe... that gap DID matter, I could see a member of the audience in between them at one point... but on the whole what Len says is fair.

I do think that Karen's experience on the show would be a wonderful angle to adjudicate the contestants on the show from. It would be like Natasha presenting the first part of series 2.. she actually knows what they're going through.. I think Karen would be professional enough to cope with adjudicating her peers... she already has adjudicated them in professional comps anyway! She is a professional and I'm sure would be professional in her comments too. It's not like she's going to be saying "Anton you sucked tonight.. get your act together." She seems a sensitive person and I think she'd be an asset to the judging panel. She speaks well and has a personality that you warm to. I don't think she'd go all soft either.. I do think she would be fair. Let's give her a chance!

I also think this would give the show some more spice for next year.. as the judging is in danger of becoming a bit of a pattern... they've added couples.. introduced group dancers.. changed some professionals.. now how about adding Karen as a judge (oh and while we're on.. let's get Natasha back to present!)

Take your point but would much rather see Karen out there dancing her routines have been a breath of fresh air to the show.

I really think the panel does need another ballroom/latin pro and there are loads to pick from would love to know how the beeb came to choose this panel they were not obvious choices to me and would love to know how the decisions were made

I've loved Karen's choreography, so I'd definitely prefer to see her dancing rather than judging next series.

As for Len, I think he has a great technique. How many of us could cope with constant, unrelenting criticism? For most of us, it's just a confidence sapper. Len finds something to praise and then adds comments about the bits that need improvement, so that the motivation is there to work on the weaknesses.

If it hasn't already been done, it would be interesting to start a poll along the lines of "Which Judge would you like as your dancing teacher?" I know where my vote would go!

I don't think there's any question about it... there's only one ballroom dancing teacher as a judge pannelist... I'd like to see the other judges try to dance a ballroom dance never mind teach anyone else how to do it!!!

I guess we got a very brief glimpse of that when Bill took Arlene for a spin on the dancefloor. It would be great if the It Takes Two programme did a segment where we could see the judges dance or do a routine - in a similar manner to Dennis Taylor's snooker challenge for Craig.

Or better yet, rope all of them into doing a group dance.

Didn't Bill give Arlene a twirl at the end of SCD on Saturday night?

She looked rubbish.

Arlene, Bruno & Craig would all be like Jill Halfpenny was last year... they're all trained theatre dancers so they would pick up the technique very quickly; probably much quicker than Jill as they are professional dancers - and are surely picking up more about the dances as they go along - but I'd like to see them try to lead someone else or teach anyone else how to do it,

Definately!

Although Bill wasnt as good as the rest of them, I really loved their friendship and was always smiling whenever I saw them in Training - they seemed like they had lots of fun. Karen seems like a great teacher too, I reckon she would be an asset to series 4.

I thought Karen was a professional judge ~ at the beginning fo the series, when Claudia had all of the female pros on together, she said how all of the other girls had been judged by Karen at one time or another, and Camilla said hopefully the next time she was judged by her Karen would recall what it was like standing in front of the judges on a saturday & go easy on her. Words to that effect, anyway ~ i'm paraphrasing from memory. I think Karen would rock as a judge, but I prefer to watch her dance.

Karen HAS to come back for series 4 other wise i will scream REALLY loud (it was the best threat i could think of) i have the solution to all the debating, have her as a contestant untill she gets knocked out (if she gets knocked out of course) n then have her as a judge cos it would be interesting to see her judge but i wanna see her in the pretty dresses and doing the fun routines!

Oh my!!! I had tears in my eyes when Bill and Karen got knocked out. Couldn't believe I was crying!!

Karen for Series 4 - definately . She really thinks about her partner and how she can bring out the best in them. It's great to see how Bill has improved through the series.

Would prefer to see her dance than judge but maybe now she and Len could do some Masterclasses together on ITT.

Sorry to have to correct you on this one Bendy, but to be fair to Len, it was Bruno who gave Zoe the 10 for the foxtrot & Arlene & Bruno who awarded them for their tango. Their tango only got 9's from Len & CRH.

BTW. You are right about the yawning chasm between them on both dances & Len seems to have forgotten his objective; announced on ITT last week, of watching carefully for this during their tango.

Can I just add that I, for one, would be happy to see any or all of the current professionals back next year! Some of them are less well known than others, but they have all brought something to the programme this year, and their personalities are really coming out now! Anyone agree?

well would not mind them adding a judge but would be unfair to get rid of one of them wouldnt it

I agree about Karen, I'd prefer her as a dancer tho not a judge. I also agree about all the professionals this series. It's been a good mix of old and new - however - I really would like the newer professionals to get a good crakc at the whip next series. I know noone can predict who will be a good dancer and who won't but perhaps give Matthew Cutler and Andrew Cuerden ladies with a bit higher profile? The more established professionals have now built up large enough fanbases of their own to work with someone a little more 'unknown'.

I'm sure we'll see more of Karen in some capacity - the producers are aware of who is popular I'm sure, and will probably ask her back if she's free and willing.

It's so nice to see a professional female dancer on the show who is actually from within this coastline!

Karen was an inspiration, I have to say, and her choreography, performances, and general personality were a great asset to the show.

Within my house, certainly, she will be sorely missed.

If you're going to hang up your dancing shoes, Karen, don't lock up the cupboard just yet, eh?
