Since so many people get annoyed to find out about future storylines .... although quite frankly I ask myself what on Earth are those people doing on certain threads.
Would it not be possible to have a specific Spoiler forum (Soap & Drama) ?

Spoilers are nearly always highlighted
Spoiler
therefore people need not read them. Also on thread topics it usually says SPOILER FILLED ZONE or gives a kind of warning.

It depends on how you have your settings. I am able to use the toolbar when I compose/reply to posts. You click the "S" at the end and enter your text in between the codes.

Here is how:

[ spoiler ] [ / spoiler ] (without spaces)

That is the code. You enter your text in the middle.

Spoiler

Or enter all the text you want, then highlight the bit you want to turn into a spolier and then hit the grey 'S'.
Sometimes helps with the 'flow' of the sentence.
