I totally see why people don't want Karen to retire - she has sparkle, a great sense of fun and is a fantastic dancer. However, as a mother myself, I know how quickly the early years of your children's lives go - you have one shot at it, so you can't afford to miss it. Her baby is quite small, and she may well want to have more children. It's a huge ask of anyone to make the sort of sacrifices to their family life that a show of this nature entails.

Having said all of that, I think she should definitely have some sort of a role in future series, if not the high pressure high time consuming job of being a contestant. I think she would make a great judge - but I wouldn't want to get rid of Craig, Bruno or Len. Arlene is going a bit far this series so if I had to sacrifice anyone it would be her - I think Karen would do a much better job and be much more constructive.

Firstly can I say that I would love to see Karen in future series of SCD. BUT can I add the debate, rather than making another plea. Bill and Karen are THE stars of this series and if Karen feels that this was enough then that is her decision.

PLUS can any partner they let have her excelent tuttelage and superb skills ever ever hope to come close to the near perfect foil that is Bill Turnbull. Any partnership is more the individual parts and sorry the pain is still so great at the loss of Bill and Karen that the idea of seeing Karen with some other celeb hoofer just would not be the same.........

How about we set up a new thread titled Beging Karen to Come Back For SCD 4 and hopefully if she's still watching the boards and see's all the support she'll change her mind. Maybe if everyone agreed to donate say £1.00 to Children in Need if she agree's we might be able to persuade her. The power of persuasion(or blackmail however you want to look at it) can be quite strong.

I can see why Karen might want not want to do another series, for reasons people have mentioned before, but I really hope she does!

Karen has really brightened up the series for me, I just love her! Bill was such a lovely guy, and I always looked forward to watching their rehearsals and interviews because I knew it would make me laugh and entertain me more than the others! I just kind of...fell in love with them! You couldn't help it really!

I really really really hope that she comes back for another series, I will be so disappointed if she doesn't

I watched Claudia interviewing Karen and Bill on last night's ITT and when Karen got a bit tearful again , I just incontrollably burst into tears (and then I slapped myself hard for being such a girly! as Bill says, this is only a dance contest, for crying out loud!!!).

I have a question though - I know nothing at all about those dance professionals - and was intrigued to hear Karen refer to her 30 years of dancing, following by 7 years of retirement. Gosh. She only looks to me like she is in her 30s. Did she start dancing when she was a baby?! (yeah this is my subtle way to ask how old Karen is. Anybody know?).

Iz

ps: now Bill and Karen are gone my interest in the show has suddenly diminished. It seems a bit too predictable to me who the winner will be (ie Zoe and Ian) and that takes the fun out of it somewhat. However I am still curious to see how far Darren goes, he has really grown on me.

I don't know that it's necessarily predictable...I think Darren stands a good chance of winning too! I think it may well be Zoe, but I wouldn't rule Darren out...

But yeah, Karen does look so much younger than she must be! Intriguing!

This intrigues me as well. On her website it says she started dancing when she was 5, so that would make her 35 in 1999, which would make her 41 now. To me she looks early 30s, 35ish at most. I'd love to know too!

this is such a good idea!!! i may try but i'm not sure if they will allow us to have so many "Karen come back for series 4" threads, we already have 2/3 i think lol

I think Zoe will get the judges' vote, but I think that Darren will get the public vote and end up winning.

And I agree with everything that's been said about both Bill and Karen. Although they weren't my favourites (Zoe and Ian), they certainly were the heart of the show. The fun they had, Bill's chats with the judges, and of course his eloquent thanks to her when they were knocked out (she was in tears, I was in tears, everyone was in tears) made them a most charming couple.

It would be nice to see Karen again next year - she has a warmth that's sometimes missing from some of the other professional women that's most appealing.

Ok if that’s true, with Arlene being 62 and Bruno being 50, I'm thinking dancing is definitely the way forward!

Do you know, I've been thinking that. I'd LOVE Karen to come back, but her and Bill's relationship was so wonderful and perfect it's hard to imagine her with anyone else!!

BUT I'd love her to replace Arlene in the judges panel, who's getting far too nasty and contradictory. It wouldn't be so taxing as dancing, with leaving her baby and everything and I think she'd be GREAT.

I really hope that Karen does come back!!!

Im think she is brilliant!!!

I think she bought loads to this series and I really miss her and Bill!!! They showed that anyone can dance and enjoy themselves!!!

She has shown what an amazing dancer she is, what an amazing choreographer she is and what a wonderful teacher she is!!!

35 was my thought.

I don't think she means 30 years dancing AND 7 years retirement. I was thinking that I have had 26 years of dance if not a year more as I was born into the dance world. I am 27. Apparently I danced in the womb the most on the Ballroom songs and bobbed along in my baby bouncer until I could walk to the dance class music.

I feel so lucky being born into dance though it is always hard to answer that question "When did you start dancing?" as I never really started.. it just was.

We take pupils from 2 1/2 (sometimes younger depending on the child) into our Lollipop Classes (what we call our Pre-School classes) and it is amazing how far some children can go by the time they are 5 if they have been in Lollipop classes. Those first few years can make a huge difference in their dancing lives... doesn't always happen as some children need to be a little older to take it in.. but for some.. it is a great advantage.

I was pondering this one last night. Does anyone know if Karen does choreography for others? She is one of the most talented, imaginative, inspirational choreographers I have seen, and I think she could easily do what Bruno does.

But I think she would make an amazing Dance Coach/Choreographer on Strictly Dance Fever.
