Hi Guys,

I just want to say I love being here and being a part of these forums, and there is so much warmth and fun and love in here its wonderful.
However, I am saddened to find that there are a few who seem to be missing the point. Everyone is entitled to opinion and part of here involves that.
But essentially we are here to show our appreciation and love for a wonderful show and the people involved in it.

Its about fun and warmth and friendship, and silliness and, madness and crushe's on sexy men (or women),
please can we keep it that way and those who are finding it hard to participate in the same way as the rest of us, please find the spirit of it and join the party.

We want everyone who's here to be here, and enjoy it, so join in, keep it going and keep it fun, and soft and pink and sparkly and marshmallowy, and custardy or I'll set Tiny on you

I love this Forum, its such a fun place to be

This is a public forum and as such all views can be expressed and open discussion and debate should be welcomed and supported. In addition, we encourage each other to stay 'on topic' and in keeping with the intention of the thread.

However, there are some posters whose views become distressing or offensive to others not because of the underlying opinion expressed but because of the emotive, vitriolic manner and tone of the post.

There are also posts which ridicule or insult other FMs for their views.

Apart from suggesting a lack of decency and respect for others, both these types of posts contravene the terms and conditions of this forum. I'm sure the mods would intervene more with various posts on our forum but they've been very busy over at X fax!

I hope cutting and pasting this doesn't contravene the T&Cs either but here goes ...

There is a place for those who support their favourites but there really isn't a need to be ridiculed for it. Some you love, some you dont, it wouldn't do for everyone to feel the same way, if we did, there would not be, in our rich language, a word as a 'forum'.

If your favourite goes out, someone on hear will listen and soothe your hurt with a kind word and a soft tissue.

Keep it friendly, not frenzied.

There even room for an old bat like The Lady Boz who most certainly isn't in the same world as you.

I obviously respect your right to post whatever you want but I would rather like to see an end to the way the same kind of posters keep doing this whole thing about telling others how and what they should and shouldn't post.

Yes! spotster, the Lady Boz supports your views, it is about dancing and also, lets remember that this is for charity too.

So lets show a bit of charity and let people do their own thing, absolutely no harm in it. It doesn't hurt or insult anybody's views, nobody who contributes to the pink fluffy silliness has ever, to my knowledge done that and the Lady Boz has been lurking on this forum for some time now before she plucked up the courage to log in.

By the way if you didn't notice, The Lady Boz supports James Martin with a load of old twaddle but there's plenty of people who have time to talk back.

Oh there was a similar thread a few days back where I made my thoughts quite clear (well I thought I did ) about following the DS T&C etc etc etc, which is why I started my earlier post on this thread by saying "Blimey not this stuff again" - the bit you didn't quote.

I don't do telling people how and what to post - that's the job of the people who run this site and their moderators. If a post is against the T&Cs, report it.

Just can't see why people want to make the whole place fluffy - which is the inference I drew from the person who started this thread.

There's plenty of room for comment even if some of that comment may not agree with the thoughts of another contributor. There have been many instances where someone has perceived a post to be 'nasty' just because it was against a 'favourite' dancer rather than being a post that was offensive.

I in no way wish to tell others what to post or not to post, I have no right to do so, I just want to keep this a happy and warm place and try and keep negativity to a minimum.

As Bees said so well it is not so much what some people say but the tone or way they say it.

My concern was that some are staying away because they have been upset by some of the comments made. This is not what we are about.

I apologise to anyone I have offended, and will be off to find somewhere else to be fluffy.

I think you have got to accept that individuals have different ways of expressing themselves. The fact that the tone in this SCD forum is friendly and enthusiastic is great, and in marked contrast to a few areas of Digital Spy, but you can't make it be pink and fluffy. Nor can it made to be technically about the dancing. The fact that Strictly Come Dancing is an escapist fun programme on a Saturday evening doesn't change the reality of it being a competition between world-class professionals and celebrities with varying degrees of keenness to maintain or raise their public profile.

The good and important thing is that it's fun on this forum, but there are a few too many discussions about how one should conduct themselves here. If we just accept that there is always a little rain, even in paradise, and get on with yackitting away about we like or don't, and not get too upset when somebody says something we don't appreciate, we'll be fine ......

There's no need to leave so soon - we all understand your sentiments I'm sure, but given that it is a competition with vibrant personalities, viewers are bound to have faves and to speak passionately aboaut them. We also have those we like less - only natural - but I completely agree that slagging off posters merely becasue they favour a different couple from you, is not necessary

It wouldn't be a 'forum' without differing views, but I don't see the need to 'get nasty' just because someone prefers a different couple - we all see it from our own viewpoint; fair enough

I think we're backtracking through different threads at different times and keep missing each other!!!! Oh well... green lights area alight.. and probably I will fall asleep at some point! My lovely American guy friend distracted me for a little while with a call to see how it all went and to tell me he was proud of me.. I told him it was delayed until tomorrow and he almost definitely wouldn't be proud of me but the thought was lovely.

I agree with your sentiments.

Whilst I'm all in favour of free expression; after all that is the point of a forum such as this, we come on here to put our point of view across about various aspects of the show for consideration by other FP's. If others disagree with them, then they are perfectly within their rights to put forward their own opinions for similar consideration.

We are all from different parts of the country/world, have differing opinions & will feel that one or another couple deserve to win more than others; & can be quite partisan, at times, in supporting them. We aren't all expert in the field of ballroom dancing & will have different ideas of what makes one performance better than others in any given week.

This is perfectly fine & normal & although we, sometimes, will have quite lively debates, it is not necessary to resort to personal insults or offensive remarks to do so.

One of the things that attracted me to this forum was the very fact that, in general, nobody is made to feel that their views, regardless of what has attracted them to SCD & ITT, is going to be trated as something worthless & they are made to feel welcome.

This isn't a case of trying to create a pink fluffy cloud of from the forum, more a matter of common curtesy & civilised behaviour.

Therefore, as I stated at the start of this post, I'm behind the sentiments of your message 100%.
