Hi Guys
I have been off line for a whole day and it seems all hell has broken loose!!
I have not the time to catch up sadly. I had to make tons of calls yesterday to alert family with fingers on the record button that ITT was a false alarm for Monday and it was all happening today, so have been following Glan's routine of affine, nicotine and adrenaline to keep me from going mad waiting for tonight!!!

Although I may have missed the point completely (not for the first time) could I just say that despite being a very sensible lawyer in my 3D life when it comes to fun and escapism I turn into a 13 year old girl with a crush on the Dazzler when it comes to my SCD life!!!!

It is pure escapism and one I will probably not live down past 6.30pm tonight!!! But I would miss the fun and smiles I have when I get time to catch up with you guys and the funny and witty postings on this site. I hope never to offend, despite my intense jealousy for dazzler, and understand that we all have different ways of speaking and especially texting/typing and so take the pink fluffy option of beleiving that no-one intends to be rude or offensive and that postings should not be taken out of context.

The wonderful thing about this site, is yes, we all love the dancing, otherwise we would not be as hooked as we are over such a great show, but we also can indulge in our anonimity and post silly stuff too.

Long may it continue.............

Big fluffy pink hugs to ALL dancing fans

Hi star,
Have had a call saying we are def on tonight.

Patrick had sooo much cool stuff to say and made such a great guest that they would have to have cut us down quite a bit to get us on. Pleased they showed loads of Patrick as he was fab

So in order to do us justice, ekk, they are showing it tonight, although no mention of fan messages, they may or may not be used, but unlikely to be tonight. Was hoping my gushy messsage could go out to Darren while he was there, but that it me just having another fantasy!!!!

Looking forward to tonight beyond belief AND the Dazzler will be on with the delightful and ever so graceful Lillia, HEAVEN

Somebody said earlier on in this thread that the show was all about the dancing - I'm not so sure - it's about the human interaction, the frustrations, the successes as much about the quality of the dances. I think these boards are big enough to accommodate all different sorts of discussions. For those of us whose sense of the absurd is tickled by talk of custard eating elephants and spy fish, the Nobody Should Leave thread is the place to be. There are havens for those who love magic, sparkles, fairy dust and hugs, as well as more serious debates. Some people flit between all the places on here and get on in all of them. I actually found Aida's thread about untrammelled peace quite funny.

One of the things about dancing, particularly with partners, is that you have to have lots of respect and consideration for the person you are dancing with. It actually encourages all sorts of good character traits. Craig Revel Horwood said in his infamous Now interview that we should forget ASBOs and the like and just teach people to dance. He might have a point.

I think the welcoming nature of these boards is so refreshing - I have had a great time on here and hope that I've found some friends to chat with in cyberspace long after SCD has ended. Some of the other tv related boards can be absolutely vile in their hostility. I have been amazed to find a place like this - it kind of restores my faith in human nature.

And you have just restored mine

Thank you, but please no mention of SCD ending, I don't think I can bear it!

Libby put it exactly as I would. I enjoy all corners of the board, because somtimes I feel like a good absurd laugh, sometimes I really have an issue to get off my chest, sometimes, I just see someone's insightful/though-provoking comment and feel the need to respond.

I was the one who advertently opened Pandora's Box, with the 'Weekend Backlash' thread on Saturday, and while the discussion both in that thread and this one has moved on considerably, if you read my initial post again, you will see that I made no reference to wanting people to be smiley smiley or suppress their own feelings or stifle debate - I wasn't even telling you all what to do - I expressed my feelings that like Glen said here, can we just respect each other's opinion and not be abusive. That is NOT the same as telling everyone to play nicely because I say so. Ironically, I was just expressing my view. And it shows that this Forum is not stifling people who feel marginalised for whatever reason, that these threads have actually been for the most part comprised of thoughtful points on all sides of the discussion.

Some people perceived an atmosphere on the forum - but the atmosphere is only made up by the collective tone of all the posters. If people feel it's too sugar-coated, then by all means post something to spark an intelligent debate. I honestly feel that you would never be jumped on by people with pitchforks and run out of town. If you post something 'negative' about someone's favourite couple (which is your right and a way to challenge the norm and stimulate debate), then you should be able to take it when 15 fans rush to their defence, because that is what debate is: they're simply responding which is their right. Noone insults anyone, and it's all good.

I think this issue has been discussed to death and there isn't much more to add at all. I just felt I needed to explain my initial thread which kicked this all off. And the conclusion for me: well, it's to continue as before, there's room for all types. I'm sorry I actually asked for people to just bear other people's feelings in mind, perhaps - it was wrong of me. Your're all grown-ups and know how to behave. And the moderators are obviously doing their job because as we know every forum on DS is just a shining example of people respecting each other's right to post; so let's just leave to them to judge and look after it all - I'll conduct myself the way I always have and enjoy the Forum.

Coo, that's a bit sharp, happyfeet

By the way, since we're elucidating on things we've said in prior posts, I would like to make it clear that I don't have anything against the pink and fluffy nature of the forum, it's very cosy and enjoyable. I just feel that a few people take things too much to heart and should try and rise above it when the very occasional troll-like entity comes into their midst. Having been knocking around DS for nearly three years, there have been a lot of unpleasant weirdos who have come along and tried to upset apple-carts, but they don't last (well, some do for a while, but they do disintegrate in the end).

I'm not sure I have made myself as clear as I want to, sorry. What I'm trying to say is that I am not attacking the views expressed in this thread, I'm a little concerned that I might have given that impression.

I got the impression you were for letting people be free to express themselves, and I did not feel personally attacked - it's cool.

As for the 'sharpness' - I can have a bit of a temper (like a coiled viper), but I almost never get bothered enough about things, and you'll see I actually went back and edited it after rereading - so gutless I am

To tell the truth, I've felt defensive after this debate came to the fore, because (and I know this isn't true), it initially felt like a feeling of disdain had emerged for those silly, controlling airheads who spend all their time adoring and cooing over their faves and not discussing dancing or critiquing things, and saying sparkly or pink or marshmallow or custard too much. It felt like we were people who were somehow out to ensure the death by force-fed treacle of anyone who favoured free speech. It's not true at all and I know posters who have just don't come here now because they feel like their ' be nice attitute' has been misconstrued - it's ironic. I only keep writing these posts because I'm feeling for them.

Ok - no more on this discussion for me - I promise See you on the threads.

I hope so

You've expressed the situation very eloquently, by the way.

We will have to set up a support group to get us through the 10 months until the next series

I just wish I'd taped this one all the way through - I didn't realise I was going to get all silly and unnecessary about Anton (although I have a lot of time for Darren too, but only in a let's go down the pub and chat about dancing way, so you don't need to get jealous:0))
