A sense of perspective

Reading this forum you would think that the housemates are suffering terribly and treating each other in an awful way - they are accused of sexual abuse, bulling, causing psychological damage to each other..

In particular the Jonny/Kate/Jade incident has had people reporting C4 to various authorities...and some poeple would like the police involved (although why this didn't seem to be necessary last year for an almost identical incident involving Brian I don't understand )

People really should remember that this is a game show that these people choose to be involved in - they are free to leave (or ask BB to intervene) if its too much for them. They are all responsible adults.

Worst of all I think that its appaling that phrases like sexual abuse and bullying are used for acts that for the most part are a bunch of bored wannabes trying to entertain themselves in a low stimulus environment - There are many people who really have had these things happen to them and for whom it really did casuse damage and life long trauma and that kind of langauge should be reserved for real cases of this kind of behaviour.

And yes I do appricate that there has been *some* real bullying - the whole sophie thing BUT that was a single week which Sophie herself has said was unimportant.

Absolutely correct. I have seldom seen so much fuss about so little.

Spoon, I agree re complaining,I've got no intention of complaining, however, I do hope Jade's family and friends do tho. Yes it happened to Brian last year while everyone was heavily intoxicated. Also Brian's a guy, shouldn't make any difference, I know, but guys do things like that all the time. The point being there was no alcohol involved this time. I've spoke to a few people about this, without any encouragement from me, they said it left a bad taste in their mouth.

I've no complaints about Jonny encouraging Jade to strip when she was drunk, she got drunk of her own free will and she stripped of her own free will. The pool incident was completely different, she was telling Jonny to stop and he carried on regardless. Not only did she end up exposed to him but also to all the viewers as well. For those of you who think it trivial I ask you, in your opinion, when does no actually mean no? Is it only when the man or in this case Jonny determines it to mean no? Is it only when he's satisfied? How are you going to explain to all the youngsters who were watching that although Jade said no she really meant yes, although she was crying she really loved it? Where have you heard that excuse used before?

Oh Im so glad some else thinks that.....and I cant believe how so many people have forgot about the week Sophie spent in there being made to feel like shit....Jade better not win just down to that ....If she does I will never watch BB again!

People love to have 'their say' and express how certain scenarios make them feel...BB's 1,2 &3 wouldn't exist without public opinion would they?
But as you say Spoon, It's a GAME SHOW not prison & HM's would leave (and have left) If they really couldn't take anymore..

tried to say much the same thing on several threads.

please just post this on all that are trivializing REAL ABUSE and have done!!!!

in this instance, more committed against the gross distortion and trivialization being perpetrated than i am to the very REAL (just not on these threads) no/yes - no means no arguments that are being bandied about as partisan slogans not rational arguments.

There is a key word in this thread - perspective.

Maybe C4 / E4 should have been more sensible in it's editing and footage. Keeping the whole incident in context, it is obvious that to certain people this will come across an unsuitable viewing, promoting the responses that are appearing on forums such as these, but also by various media.

Or perhaps some hyped up junior executive trying to make a name for himself (through controversy) put this out to make a statement about sexual abuse and the whole 'When Does No Mean No' debate. I hope not, because in my eyes, it was a trivial incident - Jade laughing during the actual physical removing of clothes by J / K. No malice was intent whatsoever - it would be an extremely stupid and vile housemate who would want to do that in front of 89 billion viewers, surely knowing that the effect of that would be 50 times worse than Adele's departure, and their subsequent analysis of that.

I think maybe at the most, the housemates should be told to try and think more about how their actions would be percieved outside. I am guessing that it could be easy to forget just how exposed you are in there.
